ideastoprint: A 200mm f/4: Sleeper Telephoto
http://ideastoprint.blogspot.com/2010/10/200mm-f4-sleeper-telephoto.html
A mostly Pentax photo blog. A 200mm f/4: Sleeper Telephoto. I took this feral dog and monkeys while spending some quiet time at Pierce Reservoir. The dog was most friendly and looked in great physical shape and was my willing test subject. Amazingly the monkeys got along fine with the dog even in close proximity. The fine detail in the fur is a good gauge of the detail this lens is capable of delivering. Labels: A 200mm f/4. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Central SG, Singapore. DFA 100mm f/2.8.

ideastoprint: Adieu Pentax
http://ideastoprint.blogspot.com/2015/02/its-third-day-of-chinese-new-year-2015.html
A mostly Pentax photo blog. In that time I still held on to my Pentax K5IIs and a whole bunch of lenses from fisheye to macro to telephoto. I had everything covered but I didn't have time to use them. And for my casual shooting needs I gravitated to a few compact cameras - the Pentax Q, the Ricoh GXR and the Canon G16. The used D610 I got offered great value. The price of FF has come down and used Nikon lenses can be picked up relatively cheaply. Unfortunately the value of my Pentax collection ha...Yes t...

ideastoprint: It's All Good With the Pentax K-5
http://ideastoprint.blogspot.com/2010/11/its-all-good-with-pentax-k-5.html
A mostly Pentax photo blog. It's All Good With the Pentax K-5. If ever there was a time to make a snap decision this was it. Do I hold on to the workhorse Pentax K-7 or do I make the switch to the newly announced K-5? I upgraded from a K-X to a K-7 and love it (expect for the ISO). I guess one day Ill upgrade to a K-5 but want a macro, really wide angle lens first. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Central SG, Singapore. Pentax camera fan. Subaru driver. Chihuahua owner. http://ideastoprint.blogspot.com/2010/09/pentax-macro-outing-amk-town-garden.html
A mostly Pentax photo blog. Pentax Macro Outing: AMK Town Garden West. For me this park is a small oasis that offers plenty of macro opportunities in an urban context. I had plenty of misses and I definitely need to look into improving my macro lighting setup. Controlling the quantity of light and diffusing it well to improve the quality of it is a challenge in any macro shooting but get it right and the subject will look beyond the ordinary. http://ideastoprint.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
A mostly Pentax photo blog. Here's some shots that were converted to black an white from the June 2010 Pentax user outing. A spiral staircase becomes a graphic element of radiating lines with the DA 10-17mm fisheye. A close-up of overlapping palm leaves provides a nice graphic image. Sometimes just excluding other elements can lend itself to a nice photo. Added a yellowish-green tone to add a little nostalgia. Links to this post. Labels: DA 10-17mm fisheye. A mostly Pentax photo blog. I don't shoot portraits too much but those times that I do pull it off reasonably well, it's often because I'm fortunate enough to come across someone who exudes a distinct personality. Among the many Pentax users who attend our monthly photo outings it is always a treat to get to shoot my friend Terence. His unique inner personality always seem to shine through whenever I look through the viewfinder. Links to this post. Labels: FA 135mm f/2.8. FA 50mm f/2.8 Macro. Contained t...

A mostly Pentax photo blog. Optio I-10 in black. Impulse buying is not good but it is hard to resist the cute looks of the Optio I-10. The smile shutter feature is pretty cool. 5 times optical zoom with 12 megapixels is plenty already. Wished the shop had it in white but I think the all black body is pretty cool too. A mostly Pentax photo blog. The Pentax Denim Strap: YEEEEHAW! One option is to use one of the old nylon camera straps popular from 35mm film camera days but these straps begin to lose their allure pretty quickly when you find the increased weight from a long lens and a battery grip starts to weigh down on your shoulder or neck and worse, the thin strap doesn't grip very well on the shoulder. A mostly Pentax photo blog. Goodbye to the trusty FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro. I finally made a tough decision to let go of this workhorse of a lens. A lens that has given me a lot of great images with its characteristic punchy colors has a tough act to follow in the footsteps of the new kid on the block, the DFA 100mm f/2.8 Macro WR.
