Science in its natural state. Weeks 22-24 Fish and the Open Ocean. Oh, boy, here we go! This is the biggie—FISH! 8212; and we’ve got three weeks to do them right! This is a long chapter, packed with information, so it will pay to divide the work up into chunks. Lets take a look at what’s included here:. The Seaside Naturalist chapter(14) starts on page 161 with a quick overview of fish in general. Then there are two pages on the external and internal anatomy of a generic bony fish. My advice would be for.

Science in its natural state. March 25, 2010. Week 20: Tunicates and the fouling community. Tunicates, despite being extremely simple looking at first appearance, are chordates just like us! And therefore they are the animal most closely related to us thus far. Hard to believe, eh? Well, chapter 13 in. Will fill you in! Go ahead and read that and then complete the following:. What is the taxonomyof a tunicate? Why is it placed in this phylum along with dogs, fish, snakes, and humans (among others)? Consu...

Hey ya’ll | Fieldwork
https://lapazfarm.wordpress.com/2010/01/06/hey-yall
Science in its natural state. January 6, 2010. I’ve posted a weekly plan for arthropoda. Please provide feedback. I know what my guys are interested in, and I’m sure some of it will be interesting to others. I’m not nearly as well versed on the web site its self, so please bear with me. So far the guys are into lobsters. They get really big and really old – like older than tortoises and about as big. AV is building a large (wall-sized) taxonomical chart. Posted in Week 16-17. Arctic and Antarctic posted.

On Project weeks | Fieldwork
https://lapazfarm.wordpress.com/on-project-weeks
Science in its natural state. If you look at the syllabus you will see that I have blocked out several weeks as project weeks. There are two single-week blocks each semester for small projects, and a final multi-week block for a larger project. With this in mind, here are some examples of types of projects you may want to consider:. Experiments: got an idea you want to test? Does a certain smell attract sharks more readily than others? Which type of shells do hermit crabs prefer? How about a build roboti...

An interesting find | Fieldwork

Science in its natural state. April 12, 2010. This is a lion’s mane nudibranch (. That JBug found washed up in front of the house. It was really difficult to get a good picture because it is mostly clear, but if you look closely (near the clamshell on the left) you can see the fringe of sensory tentacles on the oral hood, which it throws out like a cast net to catch it’s prey. Pretty cool, I think. Better pictures here: Ketchikan Photos. Laquo; New plans are up! On April 25, 2010. On April 26, 2010.

Wrapping it up | Fieldwork
https://lapazfarm.wordpress.com/2010/06/26/wrapping-it-up
Science in its natural state. June 26, 2010. It has become rather obvious that we at LaPaz Home Learning are not gonna finish this course as written, right? I mean, considering it is the end of June, and Superboy is gone to New Mexico for a Boy Scout high Adventure trip, and I am hyper-focused on planning for next year, I just don’t see it happening. Sothat’s what we did. For that I have no regrets at all. One thing that gives me some comfort is that I do believe that through the 24 weeks where this blog...
