We bought fresh produce, returned to the boat, enjoyed happy hour in the cockpit as we watched the beautiful Caribbean sunset, ate a great big fresh salad and now we are ecstatic to know that we can sleep in our comfortable bed tonight snuggled together (rather than hot bunking in the sea berth on the off watch). Oh! Crew of the Solstice.

Something really big took our lure and all the fishing line! It would have fed us for a week. Needless to say, we had beef stew for dinner. We flew the spinnaker all night. The trade winds are building today, so we are sailing with the main and genoa making over 8 knots of speed with 20 plus knots of wind. Woo-hoo! Radio email processed by SailMail.

Within hours of the end of day 2 John spotted sails behind us and quickly got on the VHF to make contact. VHF radio has a range that is essentially line-of-sight. The boat was Saba. Mike and Linda dreamed of retiring and sailing away to explore exotic places around the world. In January 2005, at age 57, they were able to make the dream a reality. They retired, sold their house and furniture, bought a Hylas 49 sloop, and started living the dream. The family of Sailing Vessel Aquila. Quick day of work. Well its the first time we have been able to get down to the boat in many months. Life has been pretty tuff but the family has weathered the storm in good spirits. For that matter so has Aquila. Lots of wind and rain have passed through and Aquila stayed high and dry!
