Our Life on Pacific Islands. Organic Farm In Hawaii. Dr Grace Chen, MD is an emergency physician in Hawaii. She has a blog, graceinhawaii.com, and is also on Facebook. This month she posted a short video on YouTube showing an organic farm on the North shore of Oahu, Waihuena Farm, which is a community supported farm providing organically grown veggies to its patrons. 2 minutes 37 seconds. And I would sure like to taste that "cranberry hibiscus" leaf. Thanks Dr. Chen. Links to this post. By the way, altho...

Pacific Islander: Shelter From The Storm
http://pacific-islander.blogspot.com/2015/08/while-we-have-more-substantial-garage.html
Our Life on Pacific Islands. Shelter From The Storm. While we have a more substantial garage than the average Japanese household, it being a fully enclosed one car type, it isn't exactly spacious. With three bicycles and a car in there, along with various stored items, we were pretty much at the limit, so adding a recumbent trike was not going to work. I needed another shelter for the trike. The interior is about 170 cm high along the centerline. I cut some left over ply to fit into the back of the garag...

Pacific Islander: Panda Bears' Picnic
http://pacific-islander.blogspot.com/2015/05/panda-bears-picnic.html
Our Life on Pacific Islands. The first Sunday in May we decided to take Momo to one of her favorite parks - Suigo Prefectural Forest Park. For a picnic. It's on the other side of Lake Kitaura from home and is just a 20 minute ride by car. The park has nice foot paths through lots of trees and around and over a small lake. There is also a large grass area for picnics, play, and even outdoor concerts. View the slide show. I'm glad that Pandabonium and K kept me on the path." - Momo the Wonder Dog. If you g...

Our Life on Pacific Islands. In a famous movie that starred Dustin Hoffman, a character approaches him and says "I have just one word I want to say to you. Plastics". Do you remember that line? It was in the 1968 classic "The Graduate". It was a challenge that she gave to herself. To prove that she could do it. As Tim Allen's character, Jason Nesmith, said in the movie Galaxy Quest (1999), " Never give up, never surrender! She may kill me for posting this, but I am in total awe of her for this achievement.

Our Life on Pacific Islands. Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Reaches Out to Japan. Politics aside (although it has a lot to do with America's health problems), I found Dr. Barnard to be an amazing researcher and health activist, as well as advocate for the humane treatment of animals. Here is an excellent interview, in two parts, with Dr. Barnard by Thom Hartmann. Enjoy, and learn. Part 1 - about 13 minutes. Part 2 - about 12:30 minutes. To explore PCRM go here: http:/ pcrm.org/. Our Life on Pacific Islands. Buy Not, Want Not. Buy Nothing Day Japan was observed on November 29th. It was the 14th annual observation with meditating "Zenta Claus" figures and elves in front of Hankyu Department Store in Tokyo and other locations around Japan. And where they will go once you or the person you give it to tires of it. Buy Nothing Day is observed in some way or other (by some people) in over sixty countries around the world.
