http://watashinokakera.blogspot.com/2015/05/deep-spring.html
A collection of interesting fragments from the web, books or life - things that have some relevance to my daily life, Japan and my work as a translator. Thursday, 28 May 2015. Back in Zurich after spending nearly two weeks in the UK, and trying to get back to normal. Hmm Only in Switzerland? Many types of tomatoes in the local garden centre. Also possibly only in Germanic countries. This is what a maple seed pod looks like. I had no idea. Gorgeous old dining car/engine seen at Zurich station.

A collection of interesting fragments from the web, books or life - things that have some relevance to my daily life, Japan and my work as a translator. Thursday, 31 July 2014. We headed out on Saturday to a shopping centre at the other end of the industrial area. It was back-to-school time. Who better to hide your mistakes than Kitty? Looks totally not legit. But they did stock a funny-looking German/Swiss German version of Memory. Swiss national day (1 August) approaches. Thinking of our friend Colm!

Bunnies and bears and bratwurst, oh my. Studying has begun. Himself kindly used the colour printer at work for these wonderful charts from Compound Interest. Which are now up on the wall in the spare room/office. Just as we were finishing up, some of the keepers/rangers came along and threw huge cylindrical blocks of ice with food ...

A collection of interesting fragments from the web, books or life - things that have some relevance to my daily life, Japan and my work as a translator. Saturday, 30 May 2015. We saw this last year in the botanical gardens in Bern and have been trying to find it ever since - "After Eight" chocolate mint! It's less chocolately than I remember but still lovely. Had to stop myself buying a Moroccan mint as well. I don't need three mint plants. Scribbled by Arline Lyons. Links to this post. Links to this post.

A collection of interesting fragments from the web, books or life - things that have some relevance to my daily life, Japan and my work as a translator. Thursday, 28 May 2015. Edinburgh to Newcastle/Gateshead and back. My travels in April didn't stop there, I followed up a few days in Edinburgh with David with a trip down to the twin city of Newcastle/Gateshead for the ITI conference. What raging lunacy is this? Don't buy this book. It's an affront to reason. Still a bit sinister. And - surprise - owls!

A collection of interesting fragments from the web, books or life - things that have some relevance to my daily life, Japan and my work as a translator. Saturday, 6 December 2014. Sun, sea, boquerones! We're enjoying sun, sea, and - well, lots of food in Malaga! Amazing boquerones al limon at Pura Pescaito in the old town. Equally amazing home-made desserts, turron and rice pudding flavour cakes. A drinking establishment, I assume. As opposed to fake sugar? The indispensible buttocts pad. Slightly Dali-e...
