Texas
http://www.sylviastuurman.nl/stories/texas/en
In February 1999, I was asked to attend a conference in San Antonio, Texas. I am very grateful to the program committee that they chose San Antonio, because, as you will see, I fell in love with Texas. We drove through Hill Country, and enjoyed the Big Bend area. Strolling along the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Forget everything about American cities with grid-like layouts, when you happen to visit San Antonio. It was at the Riverwalk. Watch out: a hill in Hill Country! And hilly it is! The Americans (or sh...

The Four Corners, a summary
http://www.sylviastuurman.nl/stories/fourcorners/en
The Four Corners, a summary. Ancient Gods watching the dust of the road: Valley of the Gods. Versie in het Nederlands. Leaving Bryce, we reached the Valley of the Gods, the starting point for the Four Corners Area. We needed to read more about this area, and come back later. Valley of the Gods. Sunrise in the Valley of the Gods. We were so lucky to sleep in the Bed and Breakfast of the same name. You have to book a year in advance, but when we arrived they had a couple of days off, and they were happ...

Greenlaning in England
http://www.sylviastuurman.nl/stories/england/en
El Bruto: the R3B after greenlaning. In August, 1997, I went along, on a BMW R1100GS, on a greenlaning trip with British XT500 enthousiasts. It was a mighty experience, both to discover the greenlaning tradition, and to do that on my big, heavy BMW. Arriving at the camping site. Friday, August 15, 1997. We arrived in Oostende at 7, perfectly on time. The boat arrived in Ramsgate at 11 local time (of course, even the time of the day is different in England). For the first time in my life I had to ...We ha...

Tuscany and the Alps on motorcycle
http://www.sylviastuurman.nl/stories/toscane/en
Tuscany and the Alps on motorcycle. View on a town in Tuscany. Versie in het Nederlands. In the end of may, beginning of june 2001, Ernst and me rode from the Ardeche, through the French Alps, to Tuscany, where I had to attend a working group meeting for my work, in San Miniato. The Alps are fantastic during that time of the year (just open or still closed, with plenty of snow), the Appennines are a real motorcyclists area, and Tuscany has, I must say, very much that is very beautiful. On the way back, w...

Intermot and Alps
http://www.sylviastuurman.nl/stories/intermot/en
The old st Gotthard pass. Versie in het Nederlands. In september 2004, we decided to visit the Intermot in München, Germany. And when you're nearby, you might just as well ride on to the Alps. Our friend Pim happens to live in Switserland, and we never visited him over there, so it was clear that those Alps would be the Swiss Alps. The B258, B257 and B259 for instance, near the Nürburgring, form a circuit by themselves. More pictures about riding through Germany on the Dutch Day 1 nl. And Day 7 nl. The w...

To Rimini for Bimota on motorcycle
http://www.sylviastuurman.nl/stories/rimini/en
To Rimini for Bimota on motorcycle. Insepction of our shiny Bimota Mantra. Versie in het Nederlands. In may, 2000, we rode up and down towards Rimini, Italy, in order to have Bimota check the Mantra. The Mantra showed severe jittering when braking. Ernst didn't take many photographs during the trip itself, so I did put photographs of the Bimota factory throuhgout the page. The Mantra in its birthplace. In the meantime, Ernst is trying to get what was it, Easytravel? So I decide to do it the oldfashioned ...

Andalucia on motorcycle
http://www.sylviastuurman.nl/stories/cabo/en
Fisherman's boss, La Isleta del Moro, Cabo de Gata. Versie in het Nederlands. We rode south in may 2002. I wanted to see the Cabo de Gata, the easternmost point of Andalucia. A barren region, with a beautiful rocky coast without high buildings. For the rest, we would just see: roam about through Andalucia. On this page, you find a summary of the trip. The trip is described from day to day in Dutch, with lots of photographs. Getting to Cabo de Gata. No matter how beautifal France seems when traveling from...

The Motorbikes of Cotswoldgent. First Bike The Dragstar 125. Well, I was on my way, the Compulsory Bike Test had been taken and after lots of egging on from friends I was about to embark on my first bike, albeit a learner it was a two wheeled machine and something that I had wanted to master for many years. The triumph Daytona 500 1977 Europe beckons! But now the time had come for my own machine and what was I to buy? Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.". The Motorbikes of Cotswoldgent: BMW 850 GS
http://themotorbikesofcotswoldgent.blogspot.com/2008/08/bmw-850-gs.html
The Motorbikes of Cotswoldgent. What can you say about the GS bikes? The 850 is quite a rare GS only 2000 were brought in to the UK but spares are not hard to come by as most bits fit from the 1100. My only negative comment would be that coming from a Triumph Sprint the power is naturally a lot less and sometimes it would be quite nice to have the 1150GS as this has a bit more oomph! Hopefully one day soon, myself and a good friend from Cornwall are hoping to do a tour of Europe/Asia, but I am still wait...
