Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Austria 1676 – Miguel Yisrael’s new CD. Austria 1676 – O novo CD de Miguel Yisrael. Until recently, there was a tendency to include the works of these composers in the German lute repertoire. Some of these pieces were even wrongly attributed to the great Sylvius Leopold Weiss, however, the music of these Austrian composers have independent features from the better known German style, so it is appropriate to speak of Austrian lute music. O ano musical de 2012 começa da melhor fo...

Monday, February 27, 2012. The generation of 1500. A geração de 1500. In the year of 1500 is born the future Emperor Charles V, who would be master of most of Europe, the so-called Europe of the Habsburgs. He also inherits all the immensity of the Spanish colonial New World, a new continent which is discovered by the Portuguese navigator Pedro Alvares Cabral precisely in that year. Simultaneously, another Portuguese, Diogo Dias, discovers Madagascar. Na música, só em Espanha nascem o polifonista Cristóba...

Sunday, November 27, 2011. Fado Music – Cultural Heritage of Humanity. FADO – Património Cultural da Humanidade. Fado (English: "Fate") is a symbol of Portugal, a highly emotional form of music that captures the portuguese soul. Deep feelings, heart breakings, sadness and longing for someone who's gone, everyday events, the ups and downs of life, the eclipse of the overseas empire - are the more traditional themes of Fado in Lisbon. There's also the Fado of Coimbra and of Ribatejo. In the XXth century, A...

Lute - the instrument: Revisiting Santiago | Revisitando Santiago
http://lutetheinstrument.blogspot.com/2012/07/revisiting-santiago-revisitando-santiago.html
Thursday, July 26, 2012. During one of the nights I was awakened by one of my favorite sounds: the bells of the cathedral or a church nearby chiming the evening hours. I opened the window and stood there in the cold of the night observing the roofs and towers, as well as all the seagulls that perch on them overnight. I wish I could do one day as the seagulls and perch in Santiago, as lute performer or teacher. Good morning, new semester! Bom dia, novo semestre! July 28, 2012 at 1:50 PM. Este blog resulta...

Wednesday, April 11, 2012. In 2004, while on an introspective travel to rethink my life, I saw one of the most beautiful and amazing things. This proves that Early music is really accessible to everyone and that even people who can’t afford to buy CDs nor education to find live classical music performances, are equally impacted by its magic and for its instant time machine.
