Sunday, January 8, 2017. Back in the sewing room. Is it too late to say Welcome 2017? May this new year be one with more positives than negatives. The last three months of 2016 were pretty eventful for family and friends. DS put his condo up for sale and made an offer on a house (pending sale of the condo). The condo has not sold as of yet and we're getting pretty anxious as he really wants the house. No That would have been too easy. Instead I kept my balance and landed on one foot. tarathesmall: March 2016

http://tarathesmall.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 24, 2016. In the sewing room. Seems like I'm getting to spend quite a bit of time in my sewing room lately. And I'm not complaining. A few days ago a friend in BC sent me a request for a bag to hold her clothes pegs. The one she's had for ages fell apart. A quick search on line came up with some very cute ideas. Kids shorts or skirts, with the bottom stitched closed and hung on the line using hangers with clips. Since I have no little ones I had to make a plain boring bag. I came up with ...

tarathesmall: Quilt Backing Talk

http://tarathesmall.blogspot.com/2016/07/quilt-backing-talk.html

Sunday, July 17, 2016. A few weeks ago there was a discussion on the hearts2hands group about how different quilters with mid/long arms attach their quilt backing to their frames. There seemed to be a lot of. Pinning one side to the leaders on the take up bar,. Rolling the backing onto the take up bar,. Pinning the opposite side to the leaders on the backing bar,. Rolling the backing onto the backing bar,. Then re-pinning the backing to the take up bar so the backing lays flat. Notice the diagonal seams?

tarathesmall: February 2016

http://tarathesmall.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 5, 2016. First things first. It's my son's birthday this weekend. Both my husband and son enjoy leather tooling. So DH decided to make DS a table that would also hold most of the tools he needs for his projects. The table has to have a solid surface and marble is the way to go. A marble slab from a re-use store, wood from the local hardware, a trip to my father-in-law's to use his table saw, lots of glue, screws, stain and varnish, and here's the birthday present! The next quilt top happe...

tarathesmall: October 2015

http://tarathesmall.blogspot.com/2015_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 25, 2015. Making a shoulder bag that converts to a back pack. First I have to mention that my Janome 1600P and Super Quilter frame have not sold yet. I'll take the frame apart and bring everything downstairs next weekend. In January I'll put it up on eBay. It would have been nice to have a quilter try it before buying to make sure it suit their needs. On eBay you take your chances. Now on to the fun stuff. I've been back in the sewing room! Here's the finished shoulder bag:. Basically I'm...

tarathesmall: A busy summer

http://tarathesmall.blogspot.com/2016/09/a-busy-summer.html

Tuesday, September 27, 2016. Where did the summer go? Fall is here and everywhere I go I smell pumpkin spice. Not that I mind. I love pumpkin spice anything. We've been known to add some of the spice when brewing regular coffee. DH isn't as keen on the taste as I am, but he does enjoy the fragrance. We've lost a few family members and friends over the past several months. They are missed very much. And will always be remembered! Have we slowed down on acquiring vintage sewing machines? The answer is yes!

Friday, May 17, 2013. Sunday, November 7, 2010. Of being sick and tired! Well its been over 3 weeks now and I've been plagued! Okay but I'm all about silver linings. so here it is. The save the dates are ready to be sent out as soon as my stamps arrive! Yes yes I splurged on stamps to match the STD's. Call it silly if you must. I know they're just going to end up in the trash anyway. I got to watch a lot of house, discovery channel, movies and (my fav) HGTV the past few days. Tuesday, August 10, 2010.

Anchor Down, Thar's A Yarn A'Brewin'.........Savvy?

Anchor Down, Thar's A Yarn A'Brewin'.Savvy? Wednesday, August 13, 2008. Everyone that knows me also knows that I have a crazy love for the ocean. I guess it's my parents' fault really, as they first introduced my big brother Sean and me to it as kids. Dad at the beach. Mom at the beach. Sean and I at the beach. We'd travel to the ocean every Labor Day and then usually one other time in summer for family vacations. My Dad would help my brother and me build sand castles:. We spent so many good times there.
