Adventures in CosPlay Prop Building. Monday, July 14, 2014. 105 Front Face Assembly. Great - we have painted parts now, and you are dying to assemble this thing because SDCC starts in 10 minutes or maybe you are late for the midnight premiere of the next Marvel movie. Anyway, the idea at this point is to assemble the pieces in this way:. And that seems so obvious, right? However, by way of intro, there's something about the original movie prop which bears a second look:. Notice that the shield is actuall...

1.01 Shield Build 1.0 Bill of Materials | S.H.I.E.L.D. Lab

Adventures in CosPlay Prop Building. Monday, July 07, 2014. 101 Shield Build 1.0 Bill of Materials. To build this project, you need a few things. Where it's possible, I have listed the prices of the parts and pieces. 3 sheets, plain white mat board 30" x 40" ( 762mm x 1012 mm) (about $7 each). 1 can, Krylon ColorMaster Cherry Red Paint (buy the darker red, not the jolly red) (about $6). 1 can, Krylon ColorMaster Navy Blue Paint (I used "true blue," but I think a navy would have been better) (about $6).

Adventures in CosPlay Prop Building. Tuesday, October 28, 2014. 109 Update - Metal Shield prototype. OK, a quick update on this shield project. Anyway, this shield is 22" in diameter since the raw materials are only 24"x 36". It does not have any spun effects on it because the galvanizing get very dull when it gets scrubbed and buffed. The star is, frankly, sub-par and not very symmetrical (it was poorly cut). Posted by Frank Turk. Subscribe to: Posts ( Atom ). Shield 1.0 Step by Step. 02 - Mark Up.

1.06 Silver Paint and the Star | S.H.I.E.L.D. Lab

Adventures in CosPlay Prop Building. Wednesday, July 16, 2014. 106 Silver Paint and the Star. Whichever method you used to assemble the rings for your shield. However, about that silver paint . Anyway, that's my first point: delay mounting the star as long as possible. The longer you wait, the better the paint will dry, and the less touch-up you'll have to attempt. And that's a completed front side of this project - and a totally suitable 1.0 version of Cap's shield. In the comics, I think the idea was a...

Adventures in CosPlay Prop Building. Wednesday, September 03, 2014. 108 Scaling For Height. OK - halloween 2014 is coming up, and a lot of you readers will want to scale the shield for someone who is half-sized or less. Here are some tips:. 1 The basic build on this blog is a 28" diameter shield, where the red/white rings are 3" wide and the center has a 10" diameter. So the full diameter is roughly 9 10 9 = 28". This ratio is the basic ratio of the shield to keep the blue part the right size. 108 Scalin...

Our First Project | S.H.I.E.L.D. Lab
http://shieldlab.blogspot.com/p/about-this-blog.html
Adventures in CosPlay Prop Building. Over the July 4th weekend, 2014, my daughter and I bought 3 sheets of 30x40 mat board, some spray paint, and some glue, and we built a replica Captain America shield (the round one). We're using this blog to show you how we made that one, and also any future updates. What we really want to do is use the same pattern and technique we used to build this one out of paper and build one out of polystyrene or 22-guage sheet aluminium. Subscribe to: Posts ( Atom ).

Not very fair, I'm sure, but sadly we all have real lives (I hope) apart from reading and writing this blog. :-). So you're familiar with this:. Well, this is what mine looks like on the back-side:. What I have on my back looks like this:. Assemble the buckle as shown, and then try it on. Posted by Frank Turk. 02 - Mark Up.

Adventures in CosPlay Prop Building. Thursday, July 10, 2014. 103 From 2D to 3D. Last time we left you with these parts and pieces:. Which doesn't really look like much. In fact, there are probably 2-dozen Shield building tutorials on-line which would leave you with these pieces, all flat and saggy, to tape or paste them together and you get what you get. However, in the really brilliant video. OK: so a bunch of flat paper stacked up on itself will look like this:. NO OFFENSE, KID. You want to repeat thi...
