The Drawing Boards: No. 42 Seventh Bed -Bed Week
http://the-drawing-boards.blogspot.com/2010/02/no-42-seventh-bed-bed-week.html
Thursday, February 11, 2010. No 42 Seventh Bed -Bed Week. Seventh Bed is the name I've given this, the seventh bed on the seventh day of Bed Week. I know, how do I name these pieces. This bed represents an attempt to come back from the ultra minimalist platform beds of the past few days. It is minimal, without doubt, yet approachable. Soft curves welcome both eye and hand. I see it built in maple, adding light hues to the light feel of the bed. Posted by jamon schlimgen cabinetmaker. This is the spot for...

Ramblings of a Woodworker: Safety Week is here again!
http://novicewoodramblings.blogspot.com/2012/04/safety-week-is-here-again.html
Ramblings of a Woodworker. Musings about my adventures in furniture making. Monday, April 30, 2012. Safety Week is here again! Although I've not participated in safety week in the past years, I've found all of the various blog posts to be good reminders that disaster can be only a stroke of the chisel away. Thanks to Marc at The Wood Whisperer for starting this annual event in an attempt to keep us safe! Tip 1: Realize when you've done enough for one day. Tip 2: Your hands are not vises! So, keep your he...

Thoughts from my shop in the woods. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. February 25, 2016. I built another project for my hand tool nook in the apartment. Naturally needed a place for small tools and accessories. I made a hand tool shelf, out of cherry, to hang above my petite Roubo. This is the second project I’ve done completely with hand tools (with the exception of milling the boards). It wasn’t until I was nearly done that it occurred to me to add rare earth magnets to the size...

Thoughts from my shop in the woods. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Roubo’s Apartment Workbench pt. 1. June 9, 2015. Now I have not confirmed with The Schwartz but I do not believe Roubo ever made it to this side of the pond. If he did he probably would have moved to Brooklyn, with the rest of the French hipsters. As a Hand Tool School member I admired Shannon’s Joinery Bench. This seemed perfect. I liked this one in particular. Please let me know if you know the owner! I have certain...

Thoughts from my shop in the woods. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Give me Liberty or give me Tools! December 31, 2015. This summer I made the pilgrimage to Liberty Tools. I had to drop my son off for camp in Portland, Maine. I was by myself so I figure I’d trek a little further north and check out the hand tool mecca I’ve read so much about. I’ve gotten more into hand tools lately and thought I would see what I could find. Stopped in at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. It is ...

It’s a Sham. November 14, 2011 in Roubo-Moxon. Still waiting on my oil to entirely dry. Meanwhile, I thought I would fix something that I knew would bug me all the time. My big honkin’ wooden vise jaw is too massive for the few inches of threading in the big wooden nut in the leg vise, and as a result the big wooden screw tilts downwards towards the jaw. See look: here in the very back of the leg you can see the nut:. 8221; She gets it, folks! Follow Me on Twitter. On Sketch of Bench. Beer n' Lathing.

Tool Fund balance as of May 17 2010: zero. I receive no regular salary, so tool purchases are few and far between. I figure, why not beg? So I’ve set up the Neanderthal Apprentice Tool Fund. If you like the content and direction of Adventures in Woodworking, or just think I’m a super guy, why not just click the ‘Donate’ icon below and chip in a dollar or two? All money donated toward the Tool Fund will go directly towards the purchase of high-quality (and usually low-priced) hand tools. On Sketch of Bench.

Pennsylvania Spice Cabinet – Part II. Posted by WingNut Workshop. On February 6, 2012 · Leave a Comment. The first, and one of the most important things was the layout. I based my shelf spacing off the plan from the PopWoodworking article, but adjusted slightly since my cabinet is about 1″ taller. Next, I chiseled out the end of the dado to make room for the toe of the saw. After laying out all the dados for the shelves, it was on to the dividers. Again layout is critical. In this case it’s...Enter your ...
