Teacher Mama: September 2014
http://ateachermama.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 16, 2014. We will be missing you, Summer. We said good bye with one last irrigation day. Love this beautiful backyard that transform squabbles over electronic devices into brothers bonding over trap making, tree climbing, crocodile fishing and the like. I don't know how long I will live in this perfect little house, but when I leave, I will miss it for the rest of my life. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Alta Class of 2000.

He asked me the other day if I ever stopped to think about the things that I have enjoyed that much of the world has never even imagined.will never have a memory of. It was one of those "tsk, tsk, shame on me" times that brought me to my knees. literally. as I began to list a few small pleasures that so many will never know. Here are a few. How many are there who have never:. Toasted a marshmallow over a campfire. I certainly agree t...

Hollow Thoughts: What's in a word?
http://unclepetie.blogspot.com/2009/08/whats-in-word.html
Wednesday, August 19, 2009. What's in a word? What's in a word? What does that mean, anyway? Lots of things are in a word. Words evoke emotions in us and can spur us to action or lull us into inaction. ie: emotions and actions such as love, anger, regret, forgiveness, anxiety, excitement, comfort, sorrow, laughter. A favorite word of mine is "amae". It's a Japanese word (pronounced ah-mah-ay), which means "the expectation to be sweetly and indulgently loved" Is that beautiful or what? What's in a word?

Hollow Thoughts: July 2009
http://unclepetie.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 14, 2009. I grew up in California.the greater Los Angeles area to be exact. My family was reasonably well to do, lived in the biggest house in an upscale neighborhood, drove fancy new cars, had the first television and garage door opener in our community. You get the picture. I loved going for those drives! We'd see cows grazing in grassy fields with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop. I'm from Los Angeles, remember? Where else would I see a cow? Want to go for a drive? He says. And I grab...

Friday, November 29, 2013. We joined John and Liz in Oregon for Thanksgiving this year. We started out with a trip to John's lab at Oregon State University. Logan has been so excited to see John's microscopes for months! We visited the lovely Portland Temple. Had a lot of fun silly time with cousins. Looked at a zillion cute houses! Cooked a delicious turkey dinner. Visited the Tillamook cheese factory. At one point, Pearl and Stockton disappeared. We found them playing with the souvenir coin machines.

Teacher Mama: October 2013
http://ateachermama.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 23, 2013. While boating on Sand Hollow Reservoir, Logan decided he wanted to go fishing from an island in the middle of the lake. So, he threw a knee board out and paddled himself over. Pretty darn brave, if you ask me. He didn't catch anything, but who cares? Stockton watched safely from the boat. Love my sweet, strong, independent boy. Friday, October 18, 2013. Hopefully his willingness to save early will pay big dividends later on. Farm Days and Helicopter Rides. I love watermelon, ...

Hollow Thoughts: Stumbling Blocks
http://unclepetie.blogspot.com/2009/08/stumbling-blocks.html
Tuesday, August 25, 2009. A lack of confidence is the heaviest anchor we can put on our creativity." I heard this comment made by one of the judges on "So You Think You Can Dance" this season and thought it was flowing over the brim with wisdom. I think it applies to all of living. A lack of confidence is the heaviest anchor to much of what we experience. Where do I fit into all of this? August 25, 2009 at 11:36 AM. August 25, 2009 at 11:40 AM. Another excellent one, Caryn. It makes me stop and think...
