Teaching College Writing and Literature. My reflections on my own teaching of college-level writing and literature courses. Tuesday, December 16, 2008. There are two parts to my final project:. Teaching College Writing and Literature: Online Glossary of Usage

http://teachingscott.blogspot.com/2010/05/online-glossary-of-usage.html

Teaching College Writing and Literature. My reflections on my own teaching of college-level writing and literature courses. Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Online Glossary of Usage. I'm looking for recommendations for an online "Glossary of Usage.". Such a glossary is usually found near the end of a typical, printed writing handbook, and these books are usually used in a Freshman Writing (or First-Year Writing or Composition) course. Would the Purdue OWL have something like this? View my complete profile.

Teaching College Writing and Literature. My reflections on my own teaching of college-level writing and literature courses. Wednesday, September 16, 2009. A set of related sites that I learned about last year on my sabbatical involve taking a text and creating visual depictions of it. (For more information, here is the "Tag Cloud" Wikipedia article. Currently getting an overhaul, apparently. To make a Tag Cloud from an RSS feed. Which is apparently a kind of user's guide (I'll have to explore this more).

Go to the interview. If you can't listen to the above interview click here. To download the audio. I think I would use podcasts in my listening and speaking course. It would be a good way for students to listen and take notes. I probably would interview one of the classmates too! October 27, 2008 at 6:03 PM.

language classroom: reflection

http://slclassroom.blogspot.com/2008/12/reflection.html

I made this blog for the course I am taking. After learning about it and probably making several mistakes with it, I will use it for my language class in the future. :). Tuesday, December 2, 2008. Classrooms. Now, I learned. That there were unlimited. Possibilities that technology can provide for more interactive. Literacy instruction. Teaching & Writing Blog: Using Videoant

http://leeshi-andreal.blogspot.com/2008/11/using-videoant.html

Teaching and Writing Blog. Wednesday, November 19, 2008. My students give presentations that we record and it would be great to comment on their videos this way. I will definately use this if it is still free and available. I guess it is too big to embed. I will have to ask how to do this in class. I missed this class where Richard introduced VideoAnt. Dang! And there was no link to click on- did you get it figured out? December 17, 2008 at 11:37 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Teaching and Writing Blog. Wednesday, November 19, 2008. I used skyrocket to create this presentation on Styles and Strategies. When a slide says video you need to click to get to the link. I couldn't figure out how to embed You Tube video into the slide so you need to go to the link. Just click on "video" and it brings you to the You Tube video. Music was hard for me too. At The End you can listen to a BBC English Presentation on "How to Extend a Conversation". This is a great way to engage students.

Teaching and Writing Blog. Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Van Gogh and The Color of Night. I love this one! It gives the impression of you just stopping some New Yorker on the street, asking him a question, and then challenging him! If he was a true New Yorker, he'd have walked off sooner than he did! And I love Van Gogh and his "Starry, Starry Night" - yes, I know he neither wrote nor sang the song! December 17, 2008 at 11:45 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Teaching and Writing Blog. Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Evaluating student work on-line. I looked at Edina High School's rubrics and I got some good ideas on how to have a final summative eval of all blogs. The criteria included:. All of the posts were submitted. Used correct grammar and mechanics most of the time. Commented on at least two times for each post. Applies specific examples to support points (I added this).
