Teach, Pray, Serve

Teach, Pray, Serve. Saturday, June 28, 2014. Well, this is my last post from this wonderful place called Tanzania. At this time next week, I’ll be back in my house in Wyoming, curled up with my dog, and enjoying the company of my friends and family who are stateside. This year has flown by, as I knew (and feared) it would. It’s hard to believe I’m going home already! Gabe is apparently anticipating my return by being extra crazy. Can't wait to curl up with his crazy self! This was definitely no exception.

Teach, Pray, Serve: November 2013

http://www.teachprayserve.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Teach, Pray, Serve. Friday, November 29, 2013. Devotion Day 5 - Post-Meal Slump. After the turkey has been deboned, the pies have been eaten, games have been played, and pants have been let out, there is only one thing left to do. My mom used to say that when we were younger, the Thanksgiving meal was always a bit of a letdown. Anyone who has watched Standard 1’s and 2’s eat lunch can imagine why. She would direct traffic to make sure the table was cleaned off, set, and ready to go. We usually break out ...

Teach, Pray, Serve: December 2013

http://www.teachprayserve.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Teach, Pray, Serve. Friday, December 27, 2013. I spent Christmas down in Africa.". Merry Christmas from Tanzania! After school was out last week, Maria and I set off to Arusha to spend some time with her father. We were joined on our trip by Rebecca and Nils, the brother and friend of Anja, another CAMS teacher. They were planning on doing a safari out of Arusha so we decided to travel together. Our trip turned into somewhat of an adventure. Maria, who has better Swahili than any of the rest of us, asked...

Teach, Pray, Serve: January 2014

http://www.teachprayserve.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Teach, Pray, Serve. Saturday, January 25, 2014. Bishop Stanway Primary School. This is the last weekend of our Christmas break, and I have been busy thinking about and preparing for my kids to return to school on Monday. It’s funny how even a 5 week break, which seemed so long even a week ago, can seem too short when faced with the end. Don’t get me wrong. I’m excited to see my kids again. It’s only that I’m going to miss sleeping in! It’s actually a good distance away from CAMS. As it turns out, Maria a...

A Will to Serve. My work with the Young Adult Service Corps at St. Paul's Within the Walls in Rome, Italy. How You Can Help. Sunday, January 12, 2014. This is My Life. In early November, I mentioned that a reporter from the Episcopal News Service came to Hong Kong to do stories on the Young Adult Service Corps Missionaries working in the city. Two weeks ago, one of those stories was published. In the story below, you will see what I do from day to day here with Mission to Seafarers in Hong Kong. I hope e...

A Will to Serve. My work with the Young Adult Service Corps at St. Paul's Within the Walls in Rome, Italy. How You Can Help. Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Goodbye, Hong Kong. Last week I was eating lunch with a seafarer aboard the. During one my trips out in the anchorage. We spoke of the usual things. "How long is your contract? Do you have a family? How many kids do you have? What is the next port of call? The weathered seafarer was a Greek captain, and had been at sea for nearly 45 years. 45 years! On Jul...

An Endlessly Changing Horizon: Little Things

http://ashleyecameron.blogspot.com/2014/06/little-things_23.html

Be a Part of the Journey. Monday, June 23, 2014. I've been to just about every diocese within the Episcopal Church in the Philippines. There were just two left to check off. The first was the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Luzon which neighbors EDS. I had no excuse not to take the two hour trip to visit with Bishop Abibico, who was recently elected the next Prime Bishop of ECP. St Thomas' Parish, Tabuk where we attended mass}. Fell in love with these tattoos representing culture, beauty and rich tradition}.

An Endlessly Changing Horizon: Series

http://ashleyecameron.blogspot.com/p/series.html

Be a Part of the Journey. Being happy isn't having everything in your life be perfect. Maybe it's about stringing together all the little things like wearing these pants or getting to a new level of Dragon's Lair - making those count for more than the bad stuff. Maybe we just get through it. and that's all we can ask for.". YASC is a spiritual journey. There are many moments that cause me to pause and reflect on how this is experience is shaping my faith, perspectives, and me. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

An Endlessly Changing Horizon: A rainy, cool Baguio

http://ashleyecameron.blogspot.com/2013/09/a-rainy-cool-baguio.html

Be a Part of the Journey. Thursday, September 19, 2013. A rainy, cool Baguio. Known as “The Summer Capital of the Philippines,” Baguio sits up in the pine-clad mountains of the Codillera region. The nickname comes from the migration of people, even the president, to the city trying to escape the heat of the humid summer months in the rest of the Philippines. Unfortunately for me, it’s still the rainy season and it showed in Baguio last weekend. Driving through the mountains. My first impression of Baguio...

Be a Part of the Journey. Tuesday, October 15, 2013. I know last week I posted. About finding a home parish. Nonetheless while I was having coffee with Fr. D’Abugao after helping with preschool, he invited me to attend their Indigenous Sunday service that coming Sunday at St. Stephen’s. There was a promise of gongs and native dance. How could I refuse? I’m still fine tuning my movie-making skills, so no judgment. Here’s a little video montage to give you a feel what it was like to be at t...Subscribe to:...

An Endlessly Changing Horizon: Rained Out

http://ashleyecameron.blogspot.com/2013/08/rained-out.html

Be a Part of the Journey. Wednesday, August 28, 2013. On Sunday, Margaret, Andrew and I joined Floyd, the Provincial Secretary, and his family for breakfast before church. We then attended the 9am service at the National Cathedral, which was a typical Episcopal Service. They even sang similar hymns. Andrew walking with Floyd's son, Norlan. The top of the cathedral. To give you an idea, here is a map of where we went. Our cloudy view of the volcano. Part of our lunch spread. August 29, 2013 at 10:12 AM.

teach pray love brazil

Teach pray love brazil. Tuesday, April 23, 2013. We just finished up a long semester of student teaching in North Carolina. We were all a little nervous and a lot excited about our upcoming journey. We never knew we were about to embark on one of the greatest experiences of our lives. I have learned so much to take back to my classroom! I think participating in home visits would be so wonderful for my future classroom. This way I can really meet my parents and students where they are so we can help a...

Its Mean, Green, Hates Christmas, and Lives in Us. Christmas is almost here. Actually, only 10 days until it is here. Now, I am serving a Spanish mission, so when I look at the word Christmas I see the word Christ and the word. Which in Spanish means. So its just a quick thought today about how during this season, there should be so. Dieter F. Uchtdorf gave this talk during a Christmas devotional called. Seeing Christmas through New Eyes. Liked Christmas a lot . . . Who lived just north of Who-ville,.
