Monday, December 10, 2012. Our girl is growing up! Today, Monday, she turned 3! Sometimes I still have a hard time believing I'm the mom of three kids! They grow up so fast and are learning so much that I just can't believe it's real! Stella through this past year. Wow, Stella is stunning! Thank you God for this little girl! Monday, December 3, 2012. He amazes me with his dedication as the team swims together in the early morning. I'm talking like he gets up at 5, is out the door and at the pool at 5...

David and Rita's Big Belgian Adventure: June 2011
http://thedrbbasite.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
David and Rita's Big Belgian Adventure. Saturday, June 25, 2011. Seen recently in Paris: this sign announcing that the city administration is putting in a temporary garden. Installation was ongoing as of 17 June, and the trees were to be there, in front of the hotel de ville or town hall, or until 17 July. As part of the tree-planting process, they brought in bales of hay and tons of sand. This end of the place in front of the town hall was already planted. Links to this post. Thursday, June 16, 2011.

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash: Chapati
http://karenemcgee.blogspot.com/2012/06/chapati.html
Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. A brief haiku ode to chapati, my one true African love:. Chapati, you thief. You've stolen my heart and soul. Yum, doughy goodness. Fresh off the hot coals. My tummy bulging with joy. Get in my belly. Back home we don't know. Cheap joys of daily fried dough. We should, don't you think? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" - Jonathan Safran Foer.

David and Rita's Big Belgian Adventure: Relax, nobody died
http://thedrbbasite.blogspot.com/2012/02/relax-nobody-died.html
David and Rita's Big Belgian Adventure. Sunday, February 12, 2012. Relax, nobody died. While this may look to our Western eyes like a funeral, it's not. These are congratulatory arrangements sent to our new Asian-Latin-American supermarket when it opened last week. The bank, the local liquor store, even the competition (albeit one located at safe distance) sent flowers. I feel bad because we didn't think to do it. All we did was spend money there. Maybe its time to start Adventures in Maryland with R&D.

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash: November 2011

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Tuesday, November 29, 2011. TIA Tuesday - Namibian Friends in America. Not having to hitchhike to see each other. Zaxby's and fresh veggies and Starbucks and southern barbecue and haircuts and 5 minute DMV trips. Warm and comfy beds, climate-controlled houses and cars, cuddly non-rabid dogs. Realizing I'd only seen her parents once before.unexpectedly in the middle of the Namib Desert at Sossusvlei. 14 The kid...

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash: March 2012
http://karenemcgee.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Saturday, March 10, 2012. Darkness is a Harsh Term, Don't You Think? Roll away your stone, I'll roll away mine. Together we can see what we can find. Don't leave me alone at this time. For I'm afraid of what I will discover inside. Cause you told me that I would find a hole. Within the fragile substance of my soul. And I have filled this void with things unreal. And all the while, my character, it steals.

http://karenemcgee.blogspot.com/2012/06/ten-rules-for-returning-from-your-time.html
Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Ten Rules for Returning from Your Time in Africa. Rule #1: Do not eat three ice cream cones and one deep dish pizza on your first day back in America, no matter how much you profess to adore milk products. You will experience dairy overload and want to die. Rule #2: Do not be a dummy. Do not wash your face with cold water. The hot water is there for a reason. Use it! Can you come to my ...

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash: Glenview in a Day
http://karenemcgee.blogspot.com/2012/06/glenview-in-day.html
Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Monday, June 11, 2012. Glenview in a Day. A ten hour layover in Chicago afforded me the opportunity to spend a day in my hometown suburb of Glenview, IL. What does one do when one has to cram all the best things of this town into one day? 1 Have tea time with Nanny and talk about the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. 2 Entice your dogs with some tunes on the keys. 3 Eat a whole bowl of M&M's. 9 Lay on the sandy beach.
