Temporarily Tartan

A Year of Living Scottishly. And the era ends. This last week has certainly been filled some of my favourite things and people to help me feel ready to "get on" with things. This included a BBQ on Portobello beach with the Adams and Mr. Campbell-Cobb. And would you believe those housekeepers got me outfitted with a box of those delightful Tunnock's Teacakes and my very own Tunnock's Teacake apron! How well do they know me? A Journey through Skye. What to say about Skye? And Barton Creek Spring. From Fort...

Temporarily Tartan: One Last Caledonian Adventure...

http://temporarilytartan.blogspot.com/2011/07/one-last-caledonian-adventure.html

A Year of Living Scottishly. One Last Caledonian Adventure. At 4am tomorrow (thank goodness it gets light here so early) Matt and I will commence our final Caledonian adventure. It will be a wee three day excursion through Isle of Skye, from what I have seen it could have been weeks if we had the time and funds to explore the outer Hebrides. It should be a mighty 3 days though! Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing,. The sailors cry;. Carry the lad that's born to be King. Over the sea to Skye.

A Year of Living Scottishly. Afternoon Cuppa at Loopy Lorna's. A social has been in order for us Girlguide leaders of the 166th unit for a while now. We decided on a meeting for High Tea yesterday afternoon at Loopy Lorna's. It was my first time having a proper afternoon tea and to be sure, it did not disappoint. Just look at this spread. Highlights of this particular tea house are the delightfully mix-matched dishes and cooky knitted cozies of different animals. Mine was a duck.as you can see. He was so...

Temporarily Tartan: Happy Scottish Summer Solstice

http://temporarilytartan.blogspot.com/2011/06/happy-scottish-summer-solstice.html

A Year of Living Scottishly. Happy Scottish Summer Solstice. Being this far north has its perks at this time of year (though Nov-Feb was rough when it got dark at 3:30 in the evening). Labels: residing in Edinburgh. June 22, 2011 at 3:19 PM. Youve earned it honey;). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My 6th grade teacher once described me as "not a bad student but just one with a lot of personality". To that I say: thank you? View my complete profile. Going to miss that Edinburgh when she goes away.

Temporarily Tartan: "Feeling (too much?) Like a Local"

http://temporarilytartan.blogspot.com/2011/03/feeling-too-much-like-local.html

A Year of Living Scottishly. 13 Is "sidewalk rage" a thing? 14 Getting this little number from my friend I do "IT Buddies" with. Isn't it terrific? He was so grateful to learn the basics of his new laptop and how to do basic internet searches that he custom-made one of his marvelous origami trees for me. I remember this feeling, on a smaller scale when moving to Texas. People actually wore cowboy boots! March 23, 2011 at 8:25 PM. I have been feeling this same way lately! March 25, 2011 at 12:50 AM. I ful...

Temporarily Tartan: A Journey through Skye

http://temporarilytartan.blogspot.com/2011/07/journey-through-skye.html

A Year of Living Scottishly. A Journey through Skye. What to say about Skye? And Barton Creek Spring. In spite of how brief my visit was, it quickly established itself as a place that I imagine will pull at me if I ever chance smell the heavenly combination of rain, sea and pine or hear the a low rumbling of thunder overhead of bleating sheep. Alas, we resigned ourselves to taking the ambition down a notch and planned a morning hike up to Old Man of Storr in the morning then a rush back to try and make i...

Baked Good. Baked. Bad. Sunday, February 26, 2012. Oscars on Huron Street. Complete with a red carpet, drinks and popcorn,. Awards (thanks to Cory for his super hard work! Even the paparazzi showed up! I was so worried when it started snowing the morning of that our turnout would be weak because so many walk or take the bus to the library. It slowed in the afternoon and would you believe I had over 30 people come? Maybe next time you can celebrate by coming to Huron Street:). Monday, February 13, 2012.

Temporarily Stuck

Thursday, May 19, 2011. NOW I can BELIZE it! After 10 fabulous days in Belize I am back safe and sound and full of stories to tell all of you! Let me break it down day by day so not to overload you all with tips and ideas for your own trip to Belize! I am not used to traveling with so many people at once! Actually the most people I have flown with at one time has been one other! My first impressions of Belize? It reminded me a lot of Indonesia, the same smell, climate and tiny airport! For a moment I was...

Temporarily Swedish

I'm living in Sweden for 5 months. I updated more regularly than I thought I would. It's not much, as excuses go, but it's all I've got. Last time I mentioned anything, I was exploring Berlin- more specifically, the Pergamon Museum. And its incredible archeological exhibits. I left with a promise to talk about the rest of that trip (which was 5 more days. I think. It's been a while.), so here's what I remember:. I didn't even forget anything important on the way out. 05:30 - Board Ryanair flight to Berli...

Temporarily Thoughtful

Well, it has been quite some time since I last posted here, I do believe. I’m not sure if I have the time to keep this blog up with posts as frequently as I used to do (which I do believe I mentioned before), but I think I will definitely still pop up once in a while just to talk. The place I moved to has much colder weather than my hometown. But, unfortunately, the tendency of the people to turn the air conditioning down to 70 degrees Fahrenheit or lower remains the same. Please, it’s too cold. Mostly w...
