Temporary Dwellings: November 2007

http://temporarydwellings.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 08, 2007. We are moving back to Melbourne in the new year. I have been offered a position with the Productivity Commission. And Andrew has applied for a Masters in Development Studies and Environment Analysis. At Monash University. We are both really excited at the prospect of being back in one of our favourite cities, and being closer to family, friends, parks, good pubs and live music. Who I have worked with in the past and think are doing excellent work in Cambodia. With fountains a...

Tuesday, December 18, 2007. In the last few years in Cambodia I have come to really enjoy photographing some of the many buildings that were designed in the late 1950's and 1960's - a movement that has been dubbed the ‘New Khmer Architecture’. This was a period of dynamic cultural and political ambition in. And saw an extensive programme of urban renewal and construction across the country. The architectural style pioneered by leading figures such as Vann Molyvann. That visit some of the key sites. T...

Temporary Dwellings: Allemagne?

http://temporarydwellings.blogspot.com/2007/06/allemagne.html

Thursday, June 21, 2007. For some reasons the vast majority of Iranians are convinced that all foreigners are German (a puzzling fact given that we haven't actually met any here). In fact, the most common way for people to ask you where you are from is "Allemagne? We often get this in drive by form shouted from a car or motorbike when we are walking on the sidewalks). When we explain that we are from Australian ("No, not Austria! The response from the interrogator is usually one of the following:. We hav...

Temporary Dwellings: Hello Turkey!

http://temporarydwellings.blogspot.com/2007/06/hello-turkey.html

Thursday, June 21, 2007. Bare skin and hair - shocking! Oh, and please note the background evidence of a reputable provider of non-prohibitively expensive SIM cards that we purchased with cash from an ATM. Not exciting I know but you miss these things when they are gone. Oh, and this tasted really good too:. Ngooo, you two look like you are having such a good time. In terms of all time best expat hook ups in Cambodia, you guys must surely be prom king and queen. A good story for the grandkids.

http://callingcodebrown.blogspot.com/2007/07/transplanting-rice-by-bec-hey-all-just.html

The official and only recognised chronicle of Benjamin and Rebecca. Sunday, July 29, 2007. A lot I have marked as private because they are of work colleagues and their children, so if you're not a member (or listed as a friend or family member of Ben and I) you won't get to see the whole set but I have left some of them open for public consumption. In the meantime, here are two to have a look at. The field in which we planted. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Blog of a Dog.

The official and only recognised chronicle of Benjamin and Rebecca. Saturday, September 29, 2007. Welcome to the World - Elia Sara Inglis! My dear friend Teesh gave birth to her first child on Friday (I think it was Friday - however the text was sent at 1:31am so she could be an early Saturday baby - I'll have to check with her Mum). Either way.she has entered the world and I am looking forward to meeting her and spending time with her Mum in November. Congrats Teesh and Bryan on your first child!

The official and only recognised chronicle of Benjamin and Rebecca. Sunday, December 02, 2007. A Sorry and a Shed (by Ben). Owing to an ailing interest in writing blog posts I have not contributed much in the last 6 months. Im sorry. Its hard to maintain a steady flow of posts and now everyone seems hooked on the Facebook (something I steadfastly refuse to join). Anyways Bec is in NZ and i have been a little bored - so here I am back on Blogger. 2 Fender Jazzmaster and a Marshal stack (well of course).

The official and only recognised chronicle of Benjamin and Rebecca. Wednesday, March 07, 2007. What is it they say."There is no place like home". It's so true. Since being back in Oz we have caught up with friends and family; shopped like consumerism is going out of fashion; and eaten enough steak to keep our iron levels up for the rest of the year. The official and only recognised chronicle of Benjamin and Rebecca. Wednesday, July 11, 2007. Flat tyres and emotional roller coasters. Ben and I have been feeling rather homesick recently. Attempting to share in friends joy as they become parents or become pregnant has made us acutely aware of just how much we are missing out on over here. It's times like this you have to step back and assess whether the benefits of living over here outweigh those of living at home. We're not sure. See you in october.

The pinnacle of motorsport that is formula one.". We stayed in a hotel that was very near two very tall and very identical buildings. These cloned structures looked especially amazing at night when viewed from a taxi with your head tilted at a 45 degree angle. And there was, but we are happy to say not as much as we had expected. The official and only recognised chronicle of Benjamin and Rebecca. Sunday, April 15, 2007. Happy Khmer New Year! Junpoh chnam thmei".(wishing you a happy new year). As for Ben and I, we are enjoying a very long weekend and a deserted Phnom Penh. We have stocked our fridge with an abundance of food so that there is very little reason to leave the house.and we have settled in to celebrate. The official and only recognised chronicle of Benjamin and Rebecca. Sunday, April 15, 2007. Congratulations Leigh and Kara! A week ago, in eager anticipation we posted a congratulations to Leigh and Kara on their wedding day. This was before realising how premature we were in this. longs2go: May 2008

http://longs2go.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 6, 2008. We haven’t done a lot in Fiji. We have relaxed by the pool and spa, done a little sight seeing which included a Hindi temple, had big breakfasts, had a massage, and completed quite a few cryptic. It is a beautiful setting here, both in the resort itself and on Denerau Island. The only downside is that, being a designated tourist precinct, everything is expensive. Thursday, May 1, 2008. On the road again, jest cain’t wait to get on the road again. Now, why anyone would do this &#8211...
