Monthly Archives: May 2013. Wall Sculpture Construction 3D Junk Image Part 2. Continued from Part 1. Still need to add a lot more screws and little bits to make it “sparkle”. Right now it’s cool, but it doesn’t quite glisten like a pirate’s treasure would. That’s usually one of my goals with these things. This thing weighs a freaking TON. Like around 60 lbs. And it’s only gonna get heavier! This entry was posted in Uncategorized. May 16, 2013. The first piece, clutch plate painted gold. The results of ab...

Category Archives: Wall Art. Steampunk Surfboard Construction, Part 2. Pre-show pix from the Acoustic Playhouse “Bohemian Shindig”. Had to make a custom wall frame for the surfboard, as i did with the snowboard. It’s basically a 6 foot board with 2 attached heavy-duty bookshelf frame rods, spray painted white. There’s a hook that holds up the piece, and holes to drill into the wall behind it. This entry was posted in Wall Art. April 21, 2013. Steampunk Surfboard Construction, Part 1. Steampunk Surfboard Construction, Part 1. I was at the L’Art Pour Art show. A few weeks ago, and somebody liked my stuff and asked me what I was going to do next. I drew a blank, then could not stop thinking about it. I thought about steampunking another guitar, but I’ve already done that… twice. It had to be something ‘cool’, like a guitar and snowboard, but what? The next day it dawned on me: a steampunk surfboard. The sewing machine got dissected and a lot of the parts ended up on the Xenopunk Bass.

Wall Sculpture Construction – 3D Junk Image – Part 1. Started with a board and the old clutch plate from my truck. Spray painted the board copper and cut it to size. Here’s an a nice big frame – about 5′ x 2.5′. The painting inside got cut out and was used as a solid back for the steampunk surfboard. The frame got spray painted gold. This is a box of leftover junk that will be the guts of the work. The first piece, clutch plate painted gold. Some lines to give it visual motion. 8230;continued in PART 2.
