The Daily Chicken

Monday, June 27, 2011. Morgan Relief is finished! I finished it up tonight after working on it for half the day. It is glossy due to the veggie oil I put on it to smooth it all out. It will absorb into the clay by tomorrow and leave the usual finish. So excited to be able to call it done! Now to get it in to the caster and get it in production. :). Saturday, June 25, 2011. Nearing completion on the Morgan Relief! This thing is just buzzing along! The flowers still need the most work. It goes so fast when...

The Daily Chicken: December 2010

http://the-daily-chicken.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 31, 2010. Clinky things, here I come! As 2010 has come to a close, so has almost all of my commission back log! YAY I do have some very long over due pieces to do over this next year, and then I should be done! So what does all of this mean for you? It means if you like stuff that is shiny, I may have something to offer in the summer. I still plan to offer the usual things though, especially between now and May, as I will need funds to pay for all of this stuff and build up our savin...

The Daily Chicken: June 2009

Thursday, June 4, 2009. Better pictures of Reflective. Here he is all finished, sealed, and with better photos than a person can do at 2AM! I love contrasting finishes on these. Just makes things pop that much more. I snagged a Reflective plaque from Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig this past week and what a joy he was to paint! Sometimes it takes something like this to get the artistic juices flowing again. Something small, low pressure, with instant gratification! You won't regret it! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Saturday, July 4, 2009. I just realized that I never posted about this blob of itchy goodness before! Here are a few more pictures of the poor lad. He started out as an Appy Performance Horse of all creatures, but you'd hardly know that now. In fact I usually have people guess as to what he started as, and I don't think I have had anyone guess it correctly. Hehe! He has been dremeled, cut apart, melted, and apoxied. Blackberry Lane Pottery News: It's All Swell!

http://blackberry-lane.blogspot.com/2012/10/its-all-swell.html

Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Swellegent, that is! I mentioned the product in a post about the workshop. I took with Christi Friesen last month. The Swellegent products are finely-ground metals suspended in a binder. They thin and clean up with water, which make them extremely easy to use, but because they are metal they can be oxidized or given a patina. I really liked how the patina made the letters pop from the background, and it was much easier to get a smooth surface using the bare bisque. If lea...

Wednesday, October 27, 2010. He is listing to starboard in a pretty obvious way. We usually adjust for a weight-bearing leg "pulling up" by shifting it ever so slightly in the opposite direction. The idea is that as it dries, it will pull into the proper place. But to know what constitutes a small shift, I need to have the legs lined up properly. Since the change is usually too subtle to see even when placing the original next to the casting, I needed another way to check. Sunday, October 10, 2010. Elsie...

Monday, December 20, 2010. Recently my mom was out of work, and while she was not working, I asked if she would make me some pouches to put my models in for transportation to shows. I was tired of miles and miles of bubble wrap, and not having enough, or worse, having too much at the end of packing up each time. When I do. I also asked her to please make the pouches a little more fashionable than the ones I already had (What can I say, I. Cute/trendy colors and patterns! Custom orders will depend on the ...

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Look mom, my butt fits! The last one for a few days, I promise, mostly because I have company coming in the next few days and I probably ought to tend to my house a little. :0D. The red dancing horse saddle is done (save the lining), and the girth, bridle and collar still need attention, but I should have them wrapped in another week or two, and I still owe you guys some pics of the other native set in progress, hopefully by the weekend I'll have those!
