What's Cottrell up to?

What's Cottrell up to? Life in South America. Thursday, April 17, 2014. So, I've never really considered myself a writer, and probably never will. I realize that saying that while writing this blog post may seem counterintuitive, but I assure you that these posts are simply to give family and friends updates and to keep a record of my musings for my future self. I present my first ever published article and it's in Spanish - a definite ego boost. Enjoy and let me know what you think - good, bad and ugly.

What's Cottrell up to? Life in South America. Saturday, February 16, 2013. Retreat to Reflect and Revisit What Matters. This week I left the city with my fifth graders for a retreat. Each grade at my school, escapes the hustle and bustle of school and city life for two days to discuss, reflect, and set schools around the type of people and course they want to be. Let me remind you, these are fifth. In addition, to lots of discussions there were teamwork games and we ended the retreat with a viewing of Ka...

What's Cottrell up to? Life in South America. Friday, December 7, 2012. Christmas has arrived to Colombia. Today was the official start of Christmas in Colombia and it definitely felt that way. And encouraging the students to initiate conversations. My fifth graders were very nervous in the beginning but by the end of our time there had made some friends and were telling me all about the amazing people met and the stories they heard. So special! I made the bow for the door. :-). Location: Bogotá, Colombia.

What's Cottrell up to? Life in South America. Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Time is flying. It seems like New Year’s Eve was yesterday and here we are nearly in April. Is this a sign that I’m getting older? These past few months have been packed with work, friends, time with the new beau (who I suppose is not all that new anymore), and time for me. I committed this year to focusing more on my inner peace and I can now say that I’m making some headway. 3 The Four Agreements:. And said that the book really sp...

Adventures Abroad | a compelling chronicle of katie's captivating antics of alacrity

A compelling chronicle of katie's captivating antics of alacrity. Guhhh Gonna finish this. This day probs won’t be too long — both because we didn’t do too much, and because i’m about drained. We went with Chiba-sensei. It’s not QUITE as epic as it sounds… well, some parts were. like the video where i got to watch a mangaka doing different steps of a comic page. And the children’s reading room:. I LOVED THE ROUND DIVET IN THE FLOOR. And the fact that we had to take off our shoes. AND HOW TO SPELL IT.

The Adventures of Kaya (and Daddy) : Life in SLC

Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Kaya Meets the Mountain. For many years now, I've told Kaya of my winter adventures up in the mountains; the things I see, the sensation of gliding down a mountain, the clouds so close you can touch them - or ride right through them sometimes, the sunsets - the snow, the scenery. Lucky for me - the day was absolutely charmed. Like fairy-tale charmed. Absolutely magic. Let me give you the pictoral (and a how-to on making your kid's first ski-day a totally amazing. 6) We skied and s...

The Adventures of Kenny

The Adventures of Kenny. A brand new chapter. everyday. Tuesday, July 07, 2015. Chapter 436 - Adventures on a Folding Bicycle. For a while now, I've been wanting to go for a cycle, but the only times we've managed to would be to rent a bike at East Coast Park. Over the recent June holidays, I did a research on whether it would be possible to get a folding / foldable bicycle which could accommodate a child seat - reason for this choice was so that the bicycle and seat could be transported in the car.
