On communities, the joy of walking through your neighbourhood, and Frank. June 8, 2015. Last week, my favourite neighbour died. Frank was a huge part of why I love where we live. A 60’s estate – it’s certainly not the most chic of locations. No postcode envy,. As Lorde would put it. But it’s a real community of a place a place where children have grown up and played outside on the greens and trees, the remnants of a once-great orchard. It’s looking lovely, Frank! The children grew to understand how nice ...

December 7, 2014. Should I write a blog? What do you think? It’s a question people often ask. Not necessarily to me. (I am no blog-oracle.) I asked it once, twice, probably more times than I remember. And I like to think that there is always a reason to write. You don’t have to publish it. Write because you’re passionate. Write because you’re angry. Write because you’re scared. Write because you’re lonely, write because you’re curious and you want to see what might happen. November 6, 2014. Sometimes I w...

The Calpol Christmas | theadventuresofsarahandalice

https://theadventuresofsarahandalice.wordpress.com/2014/12/29/the-calpol-christmas

December 29, 2014. Here’s our Christmas in numbers:. Number of bottles of Neurofen for Kids the children went through: 2.5. Times I watched the Miranda Christmas Day special: 3. Number of times I had to rifle through the recycling bin searching for presents I thought. I had accidentally recycled: 4. Hours spent searching for the correct kind of Calpol in various supermarkets on Christmas Eve: 1.5. Number of new socks I received, despite heavy hinting: 0. The first child arrived downstairs about 9.30p...

Challenge what the future holds… | theadventuresofsarahandalice

https://theadventuresofsarahandalice.wordpress.com/2014/12/09/challenge-what-the-future-holds

Challenge what the future holds…. December 9, 2014. A great word, although not always meant as a compliment. Sometimes people use it to mean vague and irrational. Quite a lot of people I follow on Twitter describe themselves as dreamers, in a creative way. Which is lovely. I love dreamers. I love people who are not so deeply rooted in reality that they have the freedom to imagine how things could be different. Better. But what if you don’t grow out of your dreams, but grow into them? I can’t stand ...

January | 2015 | theadventuresofsarahandalice

https://theadventuresofsarahandalice.wordpress.com/2015/01

Monthly Archives: January 2015. Three years of blogging. January 24, 2015. I got a notification today to tell me that today is my three year blog-iversary. Pretty sure they didn’t phrase it like that.). There’s a lovely story in that, about how blogging has changed my life – which it has – but that’s not a very interesting story for anyone other than me, really, or at least it’s not yet. But I wanted to mark the occasion by writing something less introspective about writing. 8220;Culture is meaning gener...

Blurred lines. | theadventuresofsarahandalice

https://theadventuresofsarahandalice.wordpress.com/2015/01/08/blurred-lines

January 8, 2015. No one knows her name. She’s had to change it at least five times, and each time, someone’s found out and she has to run again. But we all know his; it’s in every newspaper, on the radio at breakfast time, all over Twitter. And not in a good way, but still. He’s calling it. He came, he conquered, she vanished. But hey – you don’t choose your rapist. Sometimes it’s a complicated maze of conscouisness and consent. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of a few blurred lines. Whatever happened that...

Bedford Community Dodgeball Club – A friend’s tale | THE STEPHEN JUDGE – BLOG

https://thestephenjudge.wordpress.com/2013/06/27/bedford-community-dodgeball-club-a-friends-tale

THE STEPHEN JUDGE – BLOG. On life, on business, on Bedford, on minis, on brand. Bedford Community Dodgeball Club – A friend’s tale. This one is a bit of a tangential subject for my blog but one that I feel is worth telling. It’s about a crazy idea, people coming together by coincidence and then seeing the idea through until it worked. Then after a few more drinks, and a jovial conversation about a spoof film, ‘Dodgeball’ became the obvious solution. Obvious right? Not knowing anything about it (other tha...

THE STEPHEN JUDGE – BLOG. On life, on business, on Bedford, on minis, on brand. Provenance: A few brands to watch. There are many things going on in the world today as society fully realises the power of the internet and the incredible power they have been given through social media. For this article I’d like to focus on brands – or more specifically stories. There are 2 types of brand stories: true and false. This is about truth. With these considerations having an increasing global trend in customer pu...

THE STEPHEN JUDGE – BLOG. On life, on business, on Bedford, on minis, on brand. A dawn tour of The Higgins Bedford. 3:45am isn’t a time I see very often but on Friday 21st June 2013 this was the time I had set my alarm clock for. Madness maybe, but I’d been intrigued by the re-opening or our local museum and their ‘Dawn Tour’. I arrived at 4.30m and waited in the courtyard with another 10 or so early birds, alongside museum staff and a few well known Council faces. What was also very apparent is how cons...

THE STEPHEN JUDGE – BLOG. On life, on business, on Bedford, on minis, on brand. Salve Jorge Bar: The Offline Glass. This is a wicked idea. Who ever said social media is social? Step away from the phone please sir…. This is a problem that happens a lot in my life when going out with friends, there’s always that one person who can’t leave their phone alone, and rather than being 100% there with you, talking and enjoying being out, they might as well be with the person on the other end of their texts! Bedfo...

Just another WordPress.com site. All of the Pictures. All summer I put select photos on my blog and then just posted all of them on Facebook. This is because Facebook is much easier to post pictures on than this blog. I just realized though that I can share the whole Facebook album of pictures via a public link on here. Now you can look through all of the pictures…the good and the bad. And also, I have three more posts from Thailand to come. Its been hard to catch up now that I’m home! She has been our c...

Sarah's Adventures

Wednesday, July 15, 2009. A couple of weeks ago we had a daddy/daughter activity with the Laurel class. Ashlyn was the only Laurel who showed up, so we quickly recruited some of the bishopric and their daughters. We played games, ate pie, and things got a little crazy! Everyone was a good sport. thanks for coming! It all started with a three-legged race. Then we had a pie eating contest. The girls tied their dad's ties. The dad's then did the girl's hair and makeup! No, Maddy. Do this! What a wild night!

theadventuresofsassyceniza | A travel blog of sorts

A travel blog of sorts. You better Belize it! May 30, 2014. I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve written a blog! Here it is, almost June of 2014, and I’m finished with my first semester of grad school and have been back in the U.S. for about a year and a half! Why Belize, a few people asked me? After about a 50 minute ride, we were there! So I was committing a grave mistake by walking hurriedly! On Sunday, I slept in, felt great, showered, and decided to look for a new hotel as the one I was cur...
