The Biblical World: Dead Birds and Fish - The End of the World?

http://thebiblicalworld.blogspot.com/2011/01/dead-birds-and-fish-end-of-world.html

Dedicated to the study of all things Biblical. Friday, January 7, 2011. Dead Birds and Fish - The End of the World? Over the last week an unsettling numbers of dead birds and fish have been appearing. In Arkansas thousands of birds fell from the sky dead on New Years. In Maryland 2 million dead fish. Were found in the Chesapeake Bay. The Birds it seems may have been shocked to death by New Year's Eve fireworks. The fish may have died from lower than normal water temperatures and suffered cold shock.

The Biblical World: The Passing of Eduard Lohse (1924 - 2015)

http://thebiblicalworld.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-passing-of-eduard-lohse-1924-2015.html

Dedicated to the study of all things Biblical. Thursday, June 25, 2015. The Passing of Eduard Lohse (1924 - 2015). Word is spreading the Professor Eduard Lohse has passed away. In Germany at the age of 91. Lohse was prominent both in biblical scholarship and the church. Among his many writings is his commentary on Colossians and Philemon, which is how I was first introduced to his work. I later had the chance to meet him and his wife at the 2002 SNTS conference in Durham. View my complete profile. Tradit...

The Biblical World: Losing Weight and Eating Right the Bible Way: Another Example of How NOT to Use the Bible

http://thebiblicalworld.blogspot.com/2012/03/losing-weight-and-eating-right-bible.html

Dedicated to the study of all things Biblical. Friday, March 30, 2012. Losing Weight and Eating Right the Bible Way: Another Example of How NOT to Use the Bible. It seems that the Bible as "answer book" approach is not going away anytime soon. There are plenty of authors and preachers out there that claim you can solve all your problems if you would simply apply the Bible. Got money problems? Follow the Bible's ten easy steps to financial freedom. Having problems in your marriage? The good doctor turned ...

The Biblical World: Thoughts on "Biblical Marriage" and the Unintended Results of Applying the Bible

http://thebiblicalworld.blogspot.com/2012/03/is-this-biblical-marriage.html

Dedicated to the study of all things Biblical. Monday, March 19, 2012. Thoughts on "Biblical Marriage" and the Unintended Results of Applying the Bible. We talk a lot about biblical marriage in the USA. The culture wars have witnessed a number of people making claims about marriage from the Bible. Bumper stickers say "marriage = one man one woman." Others read, "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.". Moroccan penal code 475 allows for a kidnapper/rapist to escape prosecution if he marries his victim.

The Biblical World: Ephesians: A Participatory Guide

http://thebiblicalworld.blogspot.com/2010/12/ephesians-participatory-guide.html

Dedicated to the study of all things Biblical. Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Ephesians: A Participatory Guide. And the folks at Energion Publications. Have been kind enough to provide me with an advance reader copy of a participatory study guide to Ephesians. As an author, Robert Cornwall. The method used for this study is lectio divina. A reading from Ephesians. The lesson for the section. A set of discussion questions. An exercise to help reinforce the lesson and the experience. For producing a thought...

As it is Written. Tuesday, January 14, 2014. As a developing scholar who is keenly interested in the Apostle Paul I am devoted to developing my German competency. Cast your bread upon the waters. Tuesday, April 21, 2015. I don't have a tattoo but if I did it would be this one. Seriously, this has to be the cleverest, most poetic and original tattoo to get done . . . Not only is it in Hebrew but it it is actually from the Bible, if you find it hard to read in Hebrew you could look it up in an English Bible from Leviticus 19:28. If you do get it done be sure to send me a photo. Posted by Jonathan Robinson. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 8216;What Do You Need?

Cast your bread upon the waters. Monday, March 23, 2015. Hart on Naturalism, Existence and God. So, life is kind of hectic and reading has not been high enough on the priorities recently, but this afternoon I picked up The Experience of God. By David Bentley Hart (Yale 2013) again. The book is starting to get going, although I'm sure he could say the same thing more clearly with 1/3 of the words, but maybe that is a style thing? Let me know what you think, :-). Finding Gemstones: August 2010

http://findinggemstones.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 21, 2010. This Is How We Do It. Now, I'm not going to sing Montel. Jordan to Lydia right before bed (I'm kinda buzzed and it's all because this is how we do it might not be the most appropriate lyric to sing to a four year old), so I have to dig into the more lullabaic. Songs Lydia remembers when I've sung her something before, so this is becoming a very challenging evening affair. How did all of these songs get embedded into my head? How many truths of God are written on your heart?
