The Chinese Girl's Travel Blog

The Chinese Girl's Travel Blog. Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Hong Kong Hong Kong! In this post, I'm going to mainly talk about shopping in Hong Kong. However I'll keep it brief, since every guide book talks about it. And even if you go by my suggestion for your Hong Kong trip, you should still get a small guide book. Time Out. Has some really good ones. For shopping, you can find a lot of choices on both the Hong Kong island side: Wan Chai. And the Kowloon peninsula side: from Tsim Sha Tsui. Locates in Mo...

The Chinese Girl's Travel Blog: Hong Kong Hong Kong! part 2

http://www.thechinesegirlstravelblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/hong-kong-hong-kong-part-2.html

The Chinese Girl's Travel Blog. Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Hong Kong Hong Kong! First thing first, transportation! Is probably the simplest transportation system for foreigners to follow. Spending HK$150 (equal about 15 Euro or US$16) for an Octopus card. Is highly recommended. It comes with an initial value of HK$100 and may be recharged in increments of HK$50 at stores such as the Seven Eleven convenient stores and the Wellcome. Spitting is not so much of a problem anymore ever since the SARS incide...

The Chinese Girl's Travel Blog. Thursday, September 3, 2009. Hong Kong Hong Kong! People normally don't plan to spend too many days in Hong Kong. Even though I find plenty of things to do there, I would still make recommendation on some must see and do and introduce a few of my personal favorites in the following posts. No 1 must see. Would be the Peak. Can be used here! Things to do before. Going to the Peak:. In Tsim Sha Tsui. This is the only luxury five-star hotel with an historical building. Wal...

The Chinese Girl's Travel Blog. Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Hong Kong Hong Kong! This wasn't my first time in Hong Kong. In fact I spent my first 17 years there. However it's the first for my other half. Everyone said we chose the worse time to visit, since it's the hottest summer (July and August) in the last 10 years. Yes, it did feel like the hottest I've ever experienced, and it was also very humid (well above 80%) as usual! Tea for catching a cold) and. On To Kwai Wan Road. The "cold" tea) works for...

le fishbone: Brown Rice instead of White Rice - part 2

http://lefishbone.blogspot.com/2008/07/brown-rice-part-2-its-tricky-to-cook.html

In my first essay written in 2nd grade "what I want to be when I grow up," I announced that I wanted to be a hermit. I wasn't well received by my teacher, because she thought it's a lack of ambition. Perhaps I didn't make clear of my intention. I like to live a simple happy life with the most basic essentials. It's like making a delicious and nutritious soup with fish bones! Dreams N' Magick: January 2009

http://dreamsandmagick.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 20, 2009. My First Knitting Projects - Piece 3. This is a circular scarf. Is more appropriate) I made for my sister-in-law, but it's not done on circular needles. It's knitted as a regular scarf, then one end is sewed to one side of the other end. I also gave her some matching buttons. For her jacket. The personal touch I added is very settle, so I don't think you can see the details on this photo. I used the left-over yarn from the mother-in-law piece. Added three strings of threads.

In cream color (off-white) and is machine washable. Nice to keep the new born warm. While it's easy to clean. Pay attention to the force you exert to pulling the yarn throughout the knit! 300 g of yarn. Tension for 10 x 10 cm is 19 sts x 27 rows; recommended needle size is 4.5 mm. A pair of circular needles, size 4 mm.

http://dreamsandmagick.blogspot.com/2009/01/my-second-knitting-piece.html

Tuesday, January 20, 2009. My First Knitting Projects - Piece 2. This is the neck warmer. I made for my mother-in-law. It's a circular piece (no open ends) that's done on a pair of circular needles. I didn't pay attention when joining the two ends (which happened on the second row) and made a huge mistake by twisting it three times! I didn't realize until I had already knitted five rolls of yarn! Make sure the row(s) are not twisted. Twisted means the piece is in a spiral form. 350 g of yarn.
