The Conservative Gardener: April 2009

http://theconservativegardener.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Gardening. Religion. Politics. What a mix. Thursday, April 23, 2009. I know not everybody who reads this blog is a full time church goer, but for those of you who are you will relate to my past week, as I had one of THOSE church weeks. The one where all your responsibilities converge at the same time. I'd like to thank Margaret at http:/ life-at-thistlegarden.blogspot.com/. I know it sounds dirty, but as you can see below in just one weeks time I've got some squash! I feel like a dummy! The cutworms did ...

The Conservative Gardener: January 2009

http://theconservativegardener.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Gardening. Religion. Politics. What a mix. Monday, January 26, 2009. I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that I was trying to squeeze some broccoli in before my summer garden. My family loved the broccoli I grew during the fall, it was sooo tender and tasty that they ate about 18 plants and side shoots in about 2-3 weeks! Alright maybe it was 3-4 weeks. Anyway, I started some a couple weeks ago and transplanted them into peat pots today. Here's some pics:. I use a basic potting mix. And was engaged in...

Gardening. Religion. Politics. What a mix. Saturday, February 28, 2009. Getting ready for my spring garden.I almost can't wait! Well actually I'm not waiting as I've already planted 70 tomato seeds, 50 hot and sweet peppers, 12 cukes, 23 squash, 12 watermelon, 12 eggplant and 4 pumpkin. I've still got about 35 potato plants and 40 broccoli that need to be harvested before I plant my spring crop. It's going to be hectic! Here's some pics to put some visual to it:. I love trees, but I needed sun! You will ...

http://theconservativegardener.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Gardening. Religion. Politics. What a mix. Sunday, July 26, 2009. All is well. Just took a little time off to take care of some personal stuff going on in my life.mostly business and a few mission trips to Nicaragua and Honduras again. I felt a little guilty not posting pics from my garden and I think that added to my absence as well. I'll post some pics of the garden tomorrow, but it's basically done for the season. So much rain! The great thing about Florida is that our 2 nd. Pictures to follow shortly.

Gardening. Religion. Politics. What a mix. Saturday, August 8, 2009. My Florida Garden.Summer Style! Yesyou're looking at lots of weeds. This is what your tomatoes would look like if you had 2" of rain everyday at 3PM, temperatures over 92 every day, and the hordes of bugs that those two ingredients bring. I am in the middle of getting my Fall garden ready. Here I'm getting my sweet corn spot ready. More pics to follow. August 9, 2009 at 1:25 PM. August 9, 2009 at 2:09 PM. August 13, 2009 at 2:24 AM.

Digging in the Dirt!: July 2009

http://aprildigginginthedirt.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Digging in the Dirt! You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt. Author Unknown. Friday, July 24, 2009. July 23 CSA Night! It is SO fun to head out to the garden these days- all kinds of goodies out there! Today I found the FIRST true ripe full-size tomatoes. I called Sue (CSA member and local newspaperwoman for the big Cannon Falls Beacon), so she brought out her camera tonight and snapped a few shots of it. Maybe I'll make the paper this week! Here is what the baskets held this week:. I like to...

Digging in the Dirt! You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt. Author Unknown. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. The tomatoes are coming! The tomatoes are coming! Yesterday was the weekly CSA pickup day. The baskets contained beans, peppers, jalapenos, a purple kohlrabi, cherry tomatoes, and even a REAL standard tomato- the first ones to ripen! There are tons of green tomatoes up there, so I'm looking forward to a good harvest. Beets, chard, radishes and carrots. The first plantings of most of those ...

Digging in the Dirt! You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt. Author Unknown. Friday, January 14, 2011. Green- a thing of beauty. This was a huge King of the North pepper I harvested a few years back. My mom put it in a teacup to show just how big it really was. This beauty had very thick walls and the plants produced well. Last year I had terrible luck with peppers. Just goes to show how the weather can really make or break the veggies! This summer I'm hoping to see a few more like this one!

Digging in the Dirt! You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt. Author Unknown. Tuesday, March 24, 2009. OH boy, do I have my work cut out for me! These fences held up my cucumber plants last year. This area isn't too scary and most of the mulch is still in place. My dad was cleaning out the barn and brought up a lot of old hay for me to use as mulch. Unfortunately, he brought it up last fall, so guess what. we've been feeding the deer all winter. I have lost too many strawberry plants to count;...

Digging in the Dirt! You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt. Author Unknown. Saturday, April 25, 2009. Happy April from April! Teehee. You would not believe how many times I've been called "April May June" or asked (since it's my month! Were you born in April? Short answer. NO. :-) But I digress. An EXTREMELY busy time in the gardening year. It seems like everything is screaming to get done ALL AT ONCE! They are huge. A few of the tomatillos are even starting to flower! But I'm having a blast!

Digging in the Dirt! You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt. Author Unknown. Thursday, January 13, 2011. A photo a day. So on my FaceBook profile, I started a project where I am taking and posting a photo each day to share a little something about my life. My daughter suggested I do the same thing on my garden blog. Well, right now all you would see of my garden is white snowdrifts! And the tomatoes were great, too! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Enter your email address:. A photo a day.

The Ramblings Of A Computer Geek With A Guitar. I know that I am not a fatalist. June 14, 2010. I have been thinking quite a bit about God’s will in my life in the last several months. I have come to the conclusion that I am not a fatalist. I do not believe that our lives are completely predetermined. My opinions on this have grown stronger through my own actions as a father. Jesus asked if a father would give his son a stone when he asked for bread and how much more does the Father give good gifts?
