Meet the Cyber Dog Team. Get the Most from Your Training Sessions! EIGHT TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL TRAINING. By Sarah Owings,. 1 Keep it short. Formal training sessions should be no more than 5 minutes long. You can also do 1 minute mini sessions throughout the day in context such as asking for a sit before putting down the food bowl or opening a door. 2 Prepare and plan. Visualize what you want the dog to do before you start each session. Work on only one thing at a time. 3 Baby steps get you there faster.
