Singapore Bucket List | The Dot Diaries

https://thedotdiaries.wordpress.com/singapore-bucket-list

A Brit abroad in Singapore. Some of the more observant of you may have noticed that sometimes I refer to my ‘bucket list’. This was put together for me by my wonderful friend Kiri before I left the UK, and is a list of stuff I have to do whilst in Singapore. The deal is that I have to get a photo of the thing on the list, preferably with my face in there somewhere! This is not a comprehensive list of things to do in Singapore, and she’s actually deliberately left off some of the more touristy stuff.

Red – #worldcolours project | The Dot Diaries

https://thedotdiaries.wordpress.com/2013/03/18/red-worldcolours-project

A Brit abroad in Singapore. Red – #worldcolours project. March 18, 2013. Ahh, I am SO behind with my #worldcolours project. Red was supposed to be in February so this is more than a little late – eep! Anyway, here are my reds. Hairy strawberry looking plant things I spotted during my first Botanic Gardens trip. Poinsettia at Gardens by the Bay. Will and I having a great time at the Olympics. Lion and his beater – Vietnam. Street shrine in Geylang. Chillis at the market. Filed under Places to go. Now Playing: Riptide | The Dot Diaries

https://thedotdiaries.wordpress.com/2014/06/30/now-playing-riptide

A Brit abroad in Singapore. June 30, 2014. Yes … it’s been rather a long time I know. So much has happened since my last post …. I volunteered, started a new (paid) job and got married! So you’ll have to excuse my online silence – it just became one more thing to remember to do and, trust me on this, planning a wedding fills your head with a million things so it got lost in the madness somewhat. But being married is fabulous so far! I’d recommend it to anyone, hehe! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. My Singapo...

Moving apartments | The Dot Diaries

https://thedotdiaries.wordpress.com/2014/01/13/moving-apartments

A Brit abroad in Singapore. January 13, 2014. We hit 2 years in Singapore back in November, and our old lease expired not long after in early December (most leases in Singapore seem to be 2 years, although you can negotiate different terms). I’m not going to do a step-by-step guide to looking for an apartment, as plenty of people have done a much better job of it ( like my friend Crystal over at Expat Bostonians. Inspired by neon blooms. January 24, 2012 Inspired by. I picked these lovlies up at the market the other day. aren’t they stunning? It turns out they aren’t naturally this colour unfortunately. there was pink dye all over the newspaper they came in, revealing that they’d probably been sitting in buckets of pink water to create this brilliant colour. Oh well. works for me! Never miss another one by signing up to our Newsletter! Thank you, your sign-up request was successful! Please check your e-mail inbox.

Expat Adventures in Singapore. Where's the Next Adventure? Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar. Last Friday I was invited to go exploring around the Ramadan bazaars and markets at Geylang Serai. Friday was the eve before the eve of Hari Raya Puasa, when the month of fasting for Ramadan comes to an end, so the bazaars and markets were full of people and much hustle and bustle. Hari Raya decorations for sale. Traditional Malay clothing for sale. Chicken curry and roti prata. Thanks to notatourist.sg. Thank you fo...

Expat Adventures in Singapore: Red Dot Roaming

http://www.expatadventuresinsingapore.com/p/red-dot-roaming.html

Expat Adventures in Singapore. Where's the Next Adventure? Started in 2013, Red Dot Roaming is a series of posts taking me to all corners of Singapore via the MRT map. The only rule being that wherever I go needs to walkable (and I don't mind a reasonable walk) from the MRT station. If you know somewhere near an MRT station that you think I should be visiting leave a comment below. Click on the photos to read the posts. Aljunied MRT - Geylang. Ang Mo Kio MRT. Bugis MRT - Kampong Glam. What a great idea!

Expat Adventures in Singapore: Halong Bay

http://www.expatadventuresinsingapore.com/2015/07/halong-bay.html

Expat Adventures in Singapore. Where's the Next Adventure? So after a fabulous few days in Hanoi. For a photo of a very typical tall, narrow Vietnamese building. On the way to Halong Bay. Views sailing out into Halong Bay. After posing for photos the squid was promptly returned to the sea and proceeded to show his disgust by squirting ink out in the water. Evening arrives in Halong Bay. View from the top of Titop Island. Heading back to our boat once more we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, something I thi...

Expat Adventures in Singapore: A Bali Experience

http://www.expatadventuresinsingapore.com/2011/08/bali-experience.html

Expat Adventures in Singapore. Where's the Next Adventure? As I mentioned in my last post our base for the week we were in Bali was. Coconuts ready to be cut open at a cafe near Uluwatu. As you'd expect there were several shops selling a variety of tacky souvenirs and snacks but it was a nice place to finish our day by watching the world go by and the sun begin to set. Whilst there we stopped at a cafe for a drink and I tried Balinese coffee. It reminded me a little of kopi. Local food and drink. As Im s...

Expat Adventures in Singapore: #Worldcolors #Worldcolours

http://www.expatadventuresinsingapore.com/p/worldcolors-worldcolours.html

Expat Adventures in Singapore. Where's the Next Adventure? Through the world of Twitter and thanks to another blogger. And Twitter user I got involved in a fun project in 2013 called #Worldcolors or, being a Brit, as I prefer #Worldcolours. The idea behind it was for it to be a joint effort between bloggers from all over to collate their photos using the theme of a different colour each month, starting with white in January 2013. If you want to get involved this time, take a look here. Red Dot Roaming - ...

Expat Adventures in Singapore. Where's the Next Adventure? Gardens by the Bay Celebrates SG50 in Style! Last Friday evening saw us head to Gardens by the Bay to enjoy the opening night of their latest floral display in the Flower Dome, 'From Tales to Legends: Discover Singapore Stories'. This is a celebration of some of the many tales and legends of Singapore and is just one part of the Gardens celebrations for Singapore's 50th anniversary of independence. The tale of Sang Nila Utama. It's an excellent s...

Expat Adventures in Singapore. Where's the Next Adventure? Food Glorious Food in Ho Chi Minh City. Having written about all the marvellous food we ate whilst in Hanoi. Here's another post from my husband about the food we ate in Ho Chi Minh City on our whistle stop visit. You can follow him on Twitter at @asksirstamford. After our very late arrival on Friday night (much later than planned) and a morning of exploring. For Saturday lunch we visited Nha Hang Ngon. This is another branch of the chain we.
