Look, just because the device is 12 years old... - Liz

Look, just because the device is 12 years old. So as a birthday present for himself Alex bought a cheap 12"x18" graphics tablet from Craigslist, in the secure knowledge that he could use a USB-Serial adapter and a community OSX driver and it would Just Work with his Mac. Tonight I thought I'd try it out on my Linux box. Not so much, it seems they took the serial support out of the Wacom drivers a version or so ago. (Whaaaaat.). OSX community, you win this time. Not the year of linux on the desktop. Not t...

(Nearly) Hello USA! - Stories from a girl geek
http://laruth.livejournal.com/486241.html
Stories from a girl geek. 8th Jul, 2011 at 5:26 PM. In a matter of hours, hubby and I will be winging our way over to the United States of America for a much needed holiday! This might be a great opportunity for me to start using this poor neglected LiveJournal, to document our travels. You're probably going to be reading about our adventuers in critical thinking (we're attending The Amazing Meeting. In Vegas), Legoland, Comic Con, San Diego Zoo, Dallas and New York! 5 comments Leave a comment.

Safely arrived in Perth! - Liz
http://lizbyrd.livejournal.com/180023.html
Safely arrived in Perth! Thanks to everyone who came to Utopia on Thursday night (mmmm mushrooms). Also thanks to the clubs and UWA Guild for a fun O-day and to Dr Z. for initiating the BBQ last night. You all rock! By the way, I'm working while I'm over here - aiming for 8-12 every day. It's been going okay - I only have a Mac and no Windows license so I'm running Visual Studio over remote desktop to a machine in Vancouver. The connection is a little jerky, but not unworkably so. 4th-Mar-2010 06:03 am (...

A Weekend in the Life. Many of you appear to have realised this, but Friday was my birthday. I have passed a quarter century in this world, and am frankly a little scared by it. Present-wise, I got Kingdom Hearts II, Singstar: Legends, some money to buy a watch, a JB-Hifi giftvoucher, The Book of Lists, a charming hatbox and some t-shirts from ThinkGeek. On Saturday morning I played a little WoW. When I got back from breakfast, I just had to try out Ice Lance, which is a giant rort and I love it. Alex an...

Hello, old friends - Such a beautiful disaster
http://heathers.livejournal.com/1152311.html
Such a beautiful disaster. Coughing up feeling just for you. Hello, old friends. Mar 5th, 2015 at 6:33 AM. I come to you vulnerable and bare. I have tried to use the other social media sites but have found them all to be superficial for the most part. Not many real connections have been made since I left livejournal and since my MS diagnosis I have had to use facebook as a way of communicating with family and friends about my illness. The problem is, I get the feeling that nobody truly cares. Oh, Heather...

Getting apprehensive - Princess in a Kingdom of One
http://ilumiari.livejournal.com/142513.html
Princess in a Kingdom of One. Feb 27th, 2012 at 10:58 AM. I've also started apartment and furniture/interior decorating browsing. I'm looking to get a studio apartment in central Redmond. I have two months corporate housing when I first arrive, as well as one month car hire. I'm sure I'll need to buy a car after that, but it seems such an irritating expense. I'm not looking forward to sitting another driving test to get my Washington state license either. 5 Forgotten Dreams Pick a Flower? I hear they had...

May 21st, 2008. At least at this rate I'll manage to use up the tissues from the box my roommate bought for me when I was sick. 6 comments Leave a comment. May 21st, 2008 07:40 am (UTC). May 21st, 2008 08:36 am (UTC). Leaving is the REALLY hard part of student exchange. You don't know when or if you're going to see your friends and friendly places again. I have no advice to offer, other than that it is normal, and can be rectified by return visits :D. May 21st, 2008 08:40 am (UTC). The problem is it can't.
