much needed update… | the updated version
https://runworklive.wordpress.com/2010/02/07/much-needed-update
Just another WordPress.com weblog. February 7, 2010. Much needed update…. Sorry it’s been so long since I wrote last! My family was in town for the week so I’ve entertained them. In the past week, I’ve been shark diving (where I learned that I get seasick), surfing, body boarding, snorkeling, whale watching (amazing! Whale watching….if I could only recommend one thing to do while on vacation in Hawai’i…it would be whale watching. It was simply amazing. Have a great day! Laquo; hills and downpours. I̵...

the eats | Marathon Makeover

A year to Disney, and a year to a new me. I have two simple goals for my eating during my ‘marathon makeover’ year. 1) Fuel well, remembering that sugary treats are a 10% or less part of fueling. 2) DO NOT GO NUTZO. That’s one of the reasons you will never see a weight related number on this blog. It’s just not healthy for me – I know what I weigh, I vaguely remember what I weighed last month and the month before – but I don’t need a written record of weights. No thanky. Carrots 'N' Cake. Eat, Live, Run.

EarlyRunner: You say tomato...
http://earlyrunner.blogspot.com/2009/08/you-say-tomato.html
Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Important note: For the purposes of this post, a tomato is a vegetable and not a fruit. Bear with me, people. Here's the story in pictures. First you get some tomatoes. Lest you think our tomatoes are any less freaky than our carrots, check out The Jolly Red Giant on the right there:. And the Siamese Tomato Twins:. Okay Enough with the tomato pictures. How does one make tomatoes into salsa? Followed by an invigorating ice bath. And a chance to dry. Puree, and you have salsa.

EarlyRunner: Angry birds
http://earlyrunner.blogspot.com/2011/06/angry-birds.html
Sunday, June 26, 2011. So I totally saw another runner get dive bombed by a blackbird yesterday. I didn't have my camera with me, and I couldn't find a picture of an actual bird on runner attack, so you'll have to use your imagination a bit. It was sort of like this, except the guy I saw was by a lake, not waiting for a subway, wishing he'd sprung for the fried. Rice rather than the white. Because, really, it was only $0.57 more. 350 Canada geese that are taking over and pooping on four city parks. This ...

EarlyRunner: Asian Fusion
http://earlyrunner.blogspot.com/2011/08/asian-fusion.html
Sunday, August 14, 2011. Daniel and I almost always go out to eat on Friday night, and this past Friday we decided to check out the Dumpling Haus. That opened a few weeks ago in the Hilldale Mall. The restaurant itself is a low key affair. It's pretty small with an open kitchen, and the "drink machine" is a pitcher of water in the corner with cups. The main attractions on the menu. We ordered the house jiao zi. And the house bao zi. Would we go back? For one, Dumpling Haus? View my complete profile.

EarlyRunner: Lazy Gourmet
http://earlyrunner.blogspot.com/2009/07/lazy-gourmet_29.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2009. There was a request to know what we do with all our broccoli before it goes bad. We start by trying to give a bunch away and eating it like crazy until it's starting to get limp. At that point, we freeze the rest. So how does one freeze broccoli? Here's the process in pictures. Get some water boiling. Set up your cooling/draining station. Put a scoop of broccoli in the boiling water and cook for about 1 minute. Take it out and put it in the ice water to stop the cooking process.

EarlyRunner: Garden 101
http://earlyrunner.blogspot.com/2010/04/garden-101.html
Sunday, April 4, 2010. Now that the ground is thawed and the risk of getting a major snow is passed, it's time to start our garden. This is our second year with a garden plot (although this one is new to us and WAY better than the one last year), and we have a much better idea of what we are doing. So how do you go from this:. To something capable of supporting tasty fruits and vegetables? I'm planning to go through the process in a series of garden posts, of which this is the first. Step 0.5: Plan.

EarlyRunner: Oh yeah, that thing
http://earlyrunner.blogspot.com/2011/08/oh-yeah-that-thing_12.html
Friday, August 12, 2011. Oh yeah, that thing. A bazillion years ago. Slightly more than 101 days ago I was feeling overwhelmed by the crush of getting ready for vacation and a big conference, and I wrote a list of 11 things I wanted to accomplish in the next hundred and one days. Remember that. Me either. I made that list the day of the Boston Marathon. It was still snowing. It seems like just yesterday and forever ago. I was supposed to check in on July 28, so I'm a little late, but whatever. Don't ask ...
