So many houses, so little time. A brick Gothic Revival home, built sometime between 1874 and 1882. We are located in a historic district in a mid-sized town in south-central Colorado. Here she is from the back-end:. My lovely lady in full-bloom:. She’s creaky and she’s old, but she’s still a sight to behold. For more details on my beloved old house (and for lots of interior pictures) see this post. I did on her, and this one. 5 comments on “ My house. February 29, 2012 at 7:45 pm. So many houses, so little time. Published March 6, 2012. I am doing a lot of drive-by house-hunting. Lately. My house is not on the market but I’m anticipating a move sometime in the next year since there are several factors that may require us to relocate a little closer to Denver (that’s where Lupe’s company is based). The neighborhood) and if it is vacant or not. This past weekend we were in Colorado Springs. Photo credit: Sarah Felix Burns. Photo credit: Sarah Felix Burns. The house is actually large...

So many houses, so little time. Blank canvas: a mid-century modern house in waiting. Published March 6, 2012. This mid-century modern house is currently for sale. In Denver, Colorado. And it. A lovely mid-century specimen. But needs some tender love and care on the inside. Image from: milehimodern.com. It sort of reminds me of a school built in the 1960’s… or my former obstetrician’s office. Not that said office brings back any fond memories (I was deathly ill the entire nine months! Back inside, the kit...

Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Edna's Diaries - 1912. Monday January 1, 1912 – A beautiful New Year’s Day, cold. I washed, baked cake and bread. Finished embroidering my pillow case. We went down to Fay’s this evening. Mother is better today. Clark [Mead], Leo [Mead], and Berte [Bert Harriman) were invited over to Will’s for dinner. Tuesday January 2, 1912 – a cloudy morning. I ironed, and mended skirt. Went up to practice for cantata. Waters and the teacher came down tonight. Howard butchered a hog today.

Thursday, February 17, 2011. 1902 March - Edna's Diaries. Saturday March 1, 1902 – At home doing housework. A bad day, snowing most of the day and blustery the rest. Worked on rug and Gingham cover. Sunday March 2, 1902 – At home, not feeling very well. Stomach trouble. Went over to Franks for dinner, bad day. Monday March 3, 1902 – Howard’s 29th birthday. Guess I’ll have to whip him. Washed and went over to Madyies in the afternoon. Up all night with Bertie’s ear ache. Saturday March 8, 1902 – Fog...

Friday, March 18, 2011. 1897 Snow Homestead, 1/4 mi west of Rio, IL. Edna sits atop her white horse, her father Gilbert Spencer Snow holding the reins, and her mother Martha Melinda (Sperry) Snow stands a little to the left. I would venture a guess the woman in the carriage is Edna's sister Celia Lurena (Snow) Mead with her baby Howard LeRoy Mead. Sister Celia born in 1863 was 15 years older than her sister Edna. This photo is marked Rio, Illinois 1893. 1910 - Edna's Diaries (Building the New House).

Monday, April 18, 2011. 1911 - Edna's Diaries. Standing James "Howard" Harriman and son Gilbert "Bert" Samuel Harriman. Seated: Edna Irene (Snow) Harriman. Looking at my grandfather Bert's face, I think photo was taken around 1911. Sunday January 1, 1911 – a rainy New Year. But how we need it. We went to church. Took dinner with Franks. Monday January 2, 1911 – churned, baked, and kept up the house work. Tuesday January 3, 1911 – Washed. Just heard that Ed Epperson’s mother is dead. Saturday January 14, ...
