Patrick Cossel: Seriously, you're a girl!? So what?
http://cosselp.blogspot.com/2014/11/seriously-youre-girl-so-what.html
Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Seriously, you're a girl! I recently saw a comic strip from Cheshire Cat Studios. That gave me pause. Take a moment to follow the link so you have a basis of what I am talking about. Gender equality in gaming. Yep, I am going to throw my hat into the ring of gender equality in gaming. Many of you know I am a gamer - I play Magic: The Gathering. And World of Warcraft. These tend to be some of the biggest, most well-known games and have a huge base of players. Nope, I still trea...

Patrick Cossel: An elephant never forgets
http://cosselp.blogspot.com/2014/08/an-elephant-never-forgets.html
Wednesday, August 6, 2014. An elephant never forgets. I used to think having a great memory was a blessing. In the blink of an eye I could recall information about something that happened long ago. I could even describe the scene, often times including what we were wearing, eating, drinking, smoking, etc. And when people would ask me how I remember those things I would smile, rub my rotund belly and say, "An elephant never forgets.". How could that be bad? All that information at my fingertips! Telling m...

Patrick Cossel: The use of the word rape is not a joke
http://cosselp.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-use-of-word-rape-is-not-joke.html
Thursday, January 29, 2015. The use of the word rape is not a joke. I saw a fellow Magic Judge's Facebook post that expressed his disgust about this http:/ femfreq.tumblr.com/post/109319269825/one-week-of-harassment-on-twitter. Curious, I clicked on the link and was stunned. No - stunned isn't strong enough - I was sickened, disgusted, completely shocked, felt dirty. seriously, I can't list enough ways that this made me feel so terribly wrong. That's all there is to it. Plain and simple, disgusting.

Patrick Cossel: Oh that theater
http://cosselp.blogspot.com/2014/07/oh-that-theater.html
Thursday, July 24, 2014. When I was a senior in high school I used to go into the theater at North Pole High School and sing my favorite version (Rattle and Hum) of U2's "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.". I would stand in the center of the stage, wearing my black leather jacket, my hair unkempt, high tops covering my feet and sing. The class around me would ignore me - I think they expected me to do this sort of thing or frankly just thought I was weird. My brother had a friend, Angela Brown, w...

Patrick Cossel: Wizards of the Coast takes a huge step forward
http://cosselp.blogspot.com/2015/01/wizards-of-coast-takes-huge-step-forward.html
Thursday, January 29, 2015. Wizards of the Coast takes a huge step forward. Wizards of the Coast (WotC) recently took a huge step forward by working a transgendered character into the lore of the current Khans of Tarkir block. For Wizards to do this, in my opinion, is an acknowledgement to both the trans players of their game and trans judges that work their events. Read the story here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Patrick Cossel: Top 3 'Hero' songs
http://cosselp.blogspot.com/2015/01/top-3-hero-songs.html
Saturday, January 31, 2015. Top 3 'Hero' songs. We all have Heroes and there are some awesome songs about heroes. And while I may enjoy many of them, these are my three personal favorite. This is a new song for me as I just heard about it on Wednesday of this week! It has made a HUGE impression on me though. I really enjoy this song. Hope you do as well. Number 2 is a favorite of mine. It comes from Volbeat - one of my favorite bands - and has an amazing video. Watch it and tell me what you think.

Patrick Cossel: Overcome and seize life
http://cosselp.blogspot.com/2013/02/overcome-and-seize-life.html
Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Overcome and seize life. I watched a movie this weekend that I have seen many times before. However, this time the movie hit me in a different way. The movie, Chasing Amy, is directed and written by Kevin Smith. Smith is well known for his other films, Clerks, Mallrats, Jay and silent Bob Strike Back, Dogma and Jersey Girl. Without going in to a lot of detail about the film, Ben Affleck's character becomes conflicted when he feels inadequate in the new found relationship.
