The Greaves Family, homeschooling in South Africa

The Greaves Family, homeschooling in South Africa. We recently visited a friend and found her kitchen counters "littered" with 2 L soft drink bottles, filled with colourful bits of plastic. Curious, we just had to ask. Joel and Emma gladly joined in, and Joel has been responsible for ramming the plastic in. He does it very effectively with a wooden dowel. They both made signs at our dustbin so that we would remember not to throw away the plastic. So, would you like to join the ecobrick challenge? Yesterd...

The Greaves Family, homeschooling in South Africa: August 2009

http://thegreavesfamily.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

The Greaves Family, homeschooling in South Africa. I have not blogged for such a long time. I thought I'd better tell a bit of our Winter months. Above is a picture of the family at Hogsback. We went up to the mountains in early July, it was great. We just missed the fantastic snow which came the following week. Here the children are dressed for a neighbours party. This was late June. The Greaves Family, homeschooling in South Africa: January 2010

http://thegreavesfamily.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

The Greaves Family, homeschooling in South Africa. I'm sorry to have to post this, but for some of our friends, it's the only way you'll get the news. I was 12 weeks pregnant and started miscarrying on Thursday. I had all the usual tests and scans and the Dr's found the baby must have died quite a while back as there was no heart beat, a large rather empty sac and development had stopped. I had a D&C today. The Greaves Family, homeschooling in South Africa: Our Journey into Homeschooling

http://thegreavesfamily.blogspot.com/2011/10/our-journey-into-homeschooling.html

The Greaves Family, homeschooling in South Africa. Our Journey into Homeschooling. So, why are you homeschooling? I have to say, though I am often asked this question, I honestly do not tell people the full answer that you'll read here. Why? Because quite frankly, most of the time people are not really interested in your answer. Around this time, my husband read a book, in which Dr. James Dobson called for parents incertain states of the United States to pull their children out of school, and home ed...

The Greaves Family, homeschooling in South Africa. Another blessing on the way. I'm thrilled to tell you all that we've another baby on the way. It is still very early days and I think the baby is due about July next year. James and the children are very excited about it. We've told a few people, many have blessed us with their positive reaction. It has not been easy with some negative reactions however. I'll see the doctor on Tuesday. Links to this post. Learning to Weave: 2010 Tri For the Cure

http://weavermomof2.blogspot.com/2010/09/2010-tri-for-cure.html

This is a blog about the adventures, shenanigans and musings of our family while we learn to trust God's weaving in our lives. Tuesday, September 7, 2010. 2010 Tri For the Cure. So, the craziest thing I did this summer was join almost 3,000 other women at Tri For the Cure. This is the transition area for Waves 1-5. I was in Wave 12, so there were at least 2 other sections that looked exactly like this. The bike portion was 11.2 miles. Here I am crossing the bike finish. I received a medal for finishing!

This is a blog about the adventures, shenanigans and musings of our family while we learn to trust God's weaving in our lives. Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Here's the thing about vacation - it's incredibly. Hard to come home. We were gone for 18 days, we've been home for 3 weeks tomorrow. Between you and me, I'm still not terribly excited about being home. Being with my family. Lazing around at the beach. Watching the kids have a great time. Not having to enforce choretimes or schooltime. 1 How do I take...

This is a blog about the adventures, shenanigans and musings of our family while we learn to trust God's weaving in our lives. Friday, July 24, 2009. 1 My in-laws are visiting now. My mother-in-law has altitude sickness in the past, but is doing well on this trip. I'm so thankful, and I'm sure she is too. 2 My parents came a couple of weeks ago. We went to Rocky Mountain National Park one day and did a short hike around Bear Lake. It was beautiful, and the kids had fun playing with the camera:.

Or, alternatively titled, Reason Number 1056 that I'm glad I married my husband. Reason #1056: He remembers to take pictures. This, on the other hand, is the ONLY picture I thought to take during Little Man's first soccer game of the season. Little Man is on the left in case you didn't recognize him without the green mohawk. Go, Red Rockets!

Punkin's favorite topic is the human body, so we have almost completely abandoned our curriculum and instead are finishing the school year doing some fun activities about the body. Today's focus was the sense of smell and taste. We played a little game called "Smell like a Salmon". (The idea is from this book. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
