The House That Ben Built . Friday, February 26, 2010. Look At Me Now. Yes dear reader it's been a long time . but look at me now. We've in, we're settled and it's like we never left. I'll be updating some pics over the next little while to show you how the House That Ben Built is faring. These pics show the back of the house and the gorgeous curved wall. We planted some mature white crepe myrtles and they are exactly what were were after, giving a lovely softness to the garden. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The House That Ben Built ...: April 2009

http://thehousethatbenbuilt.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

The House That Ben Built . Thursday, April 30, 2009. The house looks like something on a reality TV show at the moment. There are tradesmen everywhere! There are painters . um . painting. Electricians fitting the lights and the final powerpoints. Heating people putting in the - heating. Carpenters doing a final bit of joinery. Ben is directing all the traffic . and building the deck. The floors will stained today (Friday). Carpet goes in on Monday . We move in the following weekend! Can this be true?

The House That Ben Built . Tuesday, February 24, 2009. The plans on site. Wooden it be lovely . Our house will feature a lot of timber. Spotted gum for the floors and deck and Vic Ash for the ceilings and some walls. A weathered stain has been applied to the Vic Ash and the colouring is a smokey grey. Ben has been cutting up lengths of timber for the external cladding on the back wall. Some of the internal doors are now on site. This one (above) is the bathroom door. Every man needs a . Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Sunday, September 19, 2010. I love building sandcastles. It takes me right back to being a kid. I discovered this gorgeous castle on the beach as we walked back to our apartment one afternoon. Even more impressive was the fact that this sandcastle was built by a group of teens - maybe 15 and 16 year olds, I'm guessing. They'd spent hours working on it together and were proudly photographing their creation as we trudged up the beach. I think it looks like something from a story book. We'll just be . A Wom...

Monday, April 26, 2010. What's the collective noun for pumpkins? One word comes to mind . but I don't think I should type it here. Eliza has a 'swear jar' and I'm already in debt to the tune of $11.20. So you get the picture . we have a heap of pumpkins - actually a mountain of pumpkins that our tiny inner city back garden has produced. We harvested them yesterday. We picked 15 pumpkins altogether and they're huge. We have a s* *load of them! Saturday, April 24, 2010. Autumn is finally here. While I didn...

Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie . My Australia Day began luxuriously . with a sleep in. What a glorious start to the day. Then it was into the kitchen. Eliza's new year resolution is to make every recipe in the Junior Masterchef. Cookbook - a promise she is taking very seriously. Today she tackled an Aussie classic - bacon and egg pie. And the result was scrumptious. Lunch was quickly followed by afternoon tea. What can I say . It's fabulous having a 10 year old who loves to cook.

Sunday, May 30, 2010. There's a tree in our back garden that's putting on a wonderful display. The flame coloured leaves from this crepe myrtle are hanging on and hanging on. Not that I'm complaining. It's makes for a colourful view from our dining room window, when winter has well and truly arrived elsewhere in the garden. Our fairy doesn't seem to mind though. Lovely Loot from Lou Lou. Eliza and I braved the pram jam at Mathilda's market this morning and made a bee line for Buttons by Lou Lou. The loll...
