The Insatiable Eater: Unforgettable Shoraian, Arashiyama Japan

What are you eating today? Sunday, 25 May 2014. Unforgettable Shoraian, Arashiyama Japan. Also Syourian), nestled on the side of a mountain a short walk from the main street, specialises in tofu but it's not vegetarian. The Insatiable Eater: February 2014

http://www.theinsatiableeater.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

What are you eating today? Sunday, 2 February 2014. A Wong: Not Your Grandma's Chinese. A Wong: Quail egg croquette puff. Chums from Denmark and we ordered a decent chunk of the dim sum menu which is only available at lunch. Its a fairly small venue but we snagged a table by the window looking out onto Wilton Road, which is only a 5 minute walk from Victoria station. Its not the most atmospheric of locations but make the trek from Chinatown and youre bound to have a fine meal. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Insatiable Eater: Kyoto travels: the best bang-for-your-yen lunch at Roan Kikunoi

http://www.theinsatiableeater.com/2015/01/kyoto-travels-best-bang-for-your-yen.html

What are you eating today? Sunday, 4 January 2015. Kyoto travels: the best bang-for-your-yen lunch at Roan Kikunoi. Roan Kikunoi: smoked cherry trout. Anyway, my mind has recently returned to Japan, and Kyoto in particular, since I've just booked another holiday there. Japan is one of those places that gets under your skin and Kyoto, more than others, is somewhere that never leaves you. I've written of some memorable meals ( noodles. Unagi and Fushimi Inari. Roan Kikunoi: dinner preparations. Sashimi fol...

London Piggy Not just another food blog. Som Saa (no longer at Climpson’s Arch). Comments Off on Som Saa (no longer at Climpson’s Arch). Som Saa – one of London’s best Thai restaurants. The other day I clicked on a lifestyle website’s “Best in London” guide that someone had re-tweeted. I don’t usually pay much attention to “best of” posts but I suppose they, at least, create debate, which surely can’t be a bad thing. Where should’ve been named as London’s Best Thai then? I hear you say. Well, I&#8217...

London Piggy Not just another food blog. The fish finger sandwich redemption: From Bill’s to Fish & Chips by Des McDonald. Comments Off on The fish finger sandwich redemption: From Bill’s to Fish & Chips by Des McDonald. Most of us have a sense of nostalgia about the food we ate when we were young. Whether it be a roast dinner, mac and cheese, pizza or congee, there’s usually a simple dish that stands-out and really takes you back. For me it’s definitely the humble fish finger sandwich. You know Bill&#82...

http://londonpiggy.co.uk/pizza-east-portobello-summer-menu-tasting

London Piggy Not just another food blog. Pizza East Portobello Summer Menu Tasting. Comments Off on Pizza East Portobello Summer Menu Tasting. I’ve long had a fondness for Pizza East. For me, it’s an east London institution and one of my safe havens on cold, winter nights. Reliably buzzy, reassuringly consistent; a homey, moody cave with an industrial edge. I always know it’s there when I can’t face my own oven. We were escorted up to the leafy terrace, a delightful bright room on the second floor, with ...

It seems the glory days of the macaron (or macaroon if you want to Anglicise it) are long gone and a new French fancy has taken the mantle of most Instagrammed treat. Much like L’Éclair de Génie, the main focus is on perfectly light pastry and unique, contemporary flavours. A photo posted by Lisa Tan (@ltmillinery)...

London Piggy Not just another food blog. Comments Off on Fera at Claridges. When Fera opened at Claridges last year, we wasted no time in getting a booking in the diary. After missing the boat with Simon Rogan’s London pop-up Roganic and with the odds stacked against us ever getting round to making a trip up to L’eclume or The French, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to try his food. Until I cancelled the booking. Perfect for a couple of tight arses like us. Desserts were equally as pleasing....

Eat Noodles Love Noodles. 吃麵愛麵 Adventures in the World of Food. London Hall of Fame. Tuesday, 26 March 2013. Singapore Noodles X 3. Following my trip to Bangalore. I spent a couple of nights in Singapore. While it really was a flying visit, I did have a spare Sunday to kill. This, of course, could only mean one thing: a noodle crawl. London Piggy Not just another food blog. My definitive NY style cheesecake recipe. Comments Off on My definitive NY style cheesecake recipe. The best cheesecake you’ll ever taste. Rather than fiddling around with baking in a water bath, I used a low oven temperature instead. The end result is a cheesecake so much softer and lighter than any shop bought version. Wednesday, July 30, 2014. My first blog ever. It would make sense to celebrate the first blog with a recipe or something, right? But as it turns out.I am fresh out of ideas! Honestly, I am not sure I even want to start a blog, or be committed to keeping up with it. Family and friend have always encouraged me to start my own blog. Ever since I started my "photo blog" on Facebook, people have asked me to share recipes. But in all honesty, it just feels like a huge commitment and a lot of work! This blog is...
