Saturday, October 5, 2013. AN EYE-CANDY, SOUL-SATISFYING BOOK: NATURAL COMPANIONS. Every now and then a book comes along that just speaks to your soul and I recently came across one. Actually, I should. Say that one recently came across to me. Natural Companions: The Garden Lover's Guide to Plant Combinations. Written by Ken Druse. Botanical Photography by Ellen Hovercamp. Isn't that a stunning cover? The photography is amazing and while the outside garden shots are admittedly lovely, the knock-out shots.

The Crafty Librarian: DRAWSTRING BAGS: ONE TECHNIQUE, MANY USES
http://craftylibrarianct.blogspot.com/2011/08/drawstring-bags-one-technique-many-uses.html
Wednesday, August 24, 2011. DRAWSTRING BAGS: ONE TECHNIQUE, MANY USES. A drawstring bag is a very handy thing and it is actually quite easy to sew one. Once mastered, the same basic techniques can be used to create bags for all sorts of things: sachets, gifts, jewelry, jewelry to give as gifts. Treats, camping gear, groceries, the list is endless really. Said child will likely be doing their own laundry (. And will not, most likely, have their own conveniently placed laundering equipment (. Odd, the thin...

The Crafty Librarian: HAS IT BEEN THAT LONG REALLY?! or, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!
http://craftylibrarianct.blogspot.com/2013/09/has-it-been-that-long-really-or-how-did.html
Sunday, September 15, 2013. HAS IT BEEN THAT LONG REALLY? Or, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? I have not posted anything at all since, OMG, March 2012! Where did that time go and why the disconnect? Besides helping with the downsizing and relocation of three. Needless to say, this scenario essentially disabled all of my thought processes and sent my ability to focus into "duh" mode both at work and after. I have. Been crafting (all right, lets be honest, knitting. Oddly, while this has all happened, according to my...

For a while now and even I recognized the need for a bit of a change-up before this became The Knitting Librarian (. Beanbags ...

The Crafty Librarian: A CRAFTY TIP AND AN AHA MOMENT
http://craftylibrarianct.blogspot.com/2011/09/crafty-tip-and-aha-moment.html
Friday, September 2, 2011. A CRAFTY TIP AND AN AHA MOMENT. Part I - The Crafty Tip:. In my last post I used a nylon cord for a drawstring to use on the laundry bag I sewed. When nylon cording or rope is cut it has a tendency to fray. To keep the ends from fraying I needed to seal the ends. Here is a brief tutorial about how I did that. It is a little hard to see against the white sink in the photo below but you can sort of make out the fuzzy tip where I made my cut. They were all over the bottom of the d...

Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Bobbles.I swore that I would never knit one again after the scarf I made for my friend's charity drive last year (see blog post: Knitting for Charity - Part I from March 2011. As I recall, I swore bobbles off because I found knitting them to be. As one must knit a few stitches (. Turn the work, purl those few, turn the work, knit those few,. And I have managed to avoid them. Until now. In the course of one week. One week I say. Several people have come to me regarding bobbles!
