The Lake Landers

Life in the beautiful Lake District with Karen, Andy and Crag. Thursday, April 23, 2015. A walk around Loweswater. On Monday we drove the short distance to park at Fangs Brow, I dont think we have ever driven past this spot and never seen a car parked there. We followed the path towards the bottom of Burnback Fell. Looking back at the car. Our first view of Loweswater. A couple of panoramic views. The tarn below Black Crag. Looking down into the valley where we would be walking shortly. Past the lake now.

The Lake Landers: July 2014

http://thelakelanders.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Life in the beautiful Lake District with Karen, Andy and Crag. Saturday, July 12, 2014. Camping in Langdale and our 200th Wainwright. This week we were away again, this time to one of our favourite campsites in Great Langdale. The tent is pitched with more stunning scenery around us. Continuing our blogs of lorries in strange places, Argos came and made a delivery? The campsite is to the left of road, a panorama of the view. Off the road now and onto a track. Looking up at Crinkle Crags. Looking down on ...

The Lake Landers: October 2014

http://thelakelanders.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Life in the beautiful Lake District with Karen, Andy and Crag. Thursday, October 30, 2014. Helvellyn, White Side and Raise. Yesterday was the best day weather-wise we have seen in the past few weeks so we decided to make the most of it. We only have one job for The Park at the moment a patrol, now patrols normally take us about 2 hours to complete and are generally reasonably low level, the one we had was neither. Skiddaw and Blencathra in the hazy distance. There is no breeze up here at the moment.

The Lake Landers: Dizzy’s First Wainwright: Crag Fell

http://thelakelanders.blogspot.com/2015/02/dizzys-first-wainwright-crag-fell.html

Life in the beautiful Lake District with Karen, Andy and Crag. Friday, February 27, 2015. Dizzy’s First Wainwright: Crag Fell. Yesterday we wanted to collect some more kindling and decided to combine that with a walk. We felt it appropriate that Dizzy’s first Wainwright should be the same one as Crag’s and conveniently we could walk it from where we collected the kindling! We start with a steep ascent of the forest. Looking back, the picture doesn’t really show how steep it actually was. Looking down on ...

The Lake Landers: A Patrol Around Mellbreak

http://thelakelanders.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-patrol-around-mellbreak.html

Life in the beautiful Lake District with Karen, Andy and Crag. Friday, February 20, 2015. A Patrol Around Mellbreak. Today we did a patrol which we have done a couple of times before, it is a walk around Mellbreak. Mellbreak as we start, we think this is one of those “perfect” shaped mountains. We start by walking up a walled track. Before the path opens up into pretty desolate moorland. The Mosedale Holly Tree stands alone. Crag’s waiting for a stick as Andy and Dizzy go ahead. Friday, February 20, 2015.

The Lake Landers: July 2012

http://thelakelanders.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Life in the beautiful Lake District with Karen, Andy and Crag. Tuesday, July 17, 2012. A Day Trip To London. Last week we were back in Oxford visiting family and friends. A few months ago we decided to incorporate a trip to London during this week, when we originally planned the trip we had hoped we may get to see the Olympic Park, but hadn’t realised there would be a security “lock-down” so we had to revise our plans slightly. It crosses the Thames at 90m (300ft) above the water. We are at “cruisi...

We are lucky people. Not only do we have this opportunity to come and live in Vancouver but we have loads of lovely family and great friends that we want to share stuff with. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Our full day in Cape Breton was spent driving around the coastline that the region is famous for. Named Torquil Maclean after an individual who ran the first ferry across the bay and ran it for 50 years in the late 1800’s. On our drive we enter and exit and re-enter C...

We are lucky people. Not only do we have this opportunity to come and live in Vancouver but we have loads of lovely family and great friends that we want to share stuff with. Tuesday, July 31, 2012. On their first full day we decided to head out to the Critter Care Open-House that we had seen advertised. We figured our newest visitors would want a fairly ‘easy’ day after their long flight and this seemed liked a good option that would please Annabel too. While they do have one permanent resident, a bobca...

We were invited to join the Scott-Fossil 2nd annual Bonspiel the other week and have a few pics to share. And my turn……. Believe it or not we came third place probably due to our team mates but both had at least one decent stone each placing in the target. We will endeavour to learn some more, at least in the...

Skyline Trail, Manning Park. The trail begins from the parking lot bright and open in a low meadow and flat easy walking. A few colourful flowers dot the landscape including these striking subalpine daisies. Mojo soon finds a great drinking spot, it’s thirsty work walking uphill on these hot summer days! Mojo ...

We are lucky people. Not only do we have this opportunity to come and live in Vancouver but we have loads of lovely family and great friends that we want to share stuff with. Friday, January 27, 2012. The weather so far this January has been, well, very January. A period of rain, followed by a period of snow, followed by another period of rain. However, yesterday morning the only thing falling from the sky were glorious rays of sunshine! I ensured Mojo and I got out to soak up some vitamin D. This bluebe...
