Joe F. Stierheim: March 2014
http://joefstierheim.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Events sometimes occur in the strangest ways. I recently entered a novel in a contest. I was in the process of preparing my novel, Lessons from an Unimportant Planet. For self publication when I received an email informing me of a contest sponsored by CreateSpace. My novel satisfied all the requirements for the contest so after a day or so deliberation I decided why not? A few more days of editing and I sent the novel in. What was the message in the fortune cookie? Several of my ...

Joe F. Stierheim: January 2014
http://joefstierheim.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 28, 2014. I was informed recently that there is a quote from Stephen King advising that a writer should always work on a piece of writing until it is finished and never abandon it before that point is reached. There is another quote from poet Paul Valery saying that a poem is never finished, but simply abandoned. When is a work finished and when is it simply abandoned? Saturday, January 11, 2014. Because of the low temperatures last week and other things to take care of, I didn’t g...

Saturday, January 11, 2014. I put Christmas away yesterday—stored it in the shed until next December. I was really sad to do that this year. And two additional strings of lights for the tree to make the holiday a little bit brighter next year. I even remembered to pack them with the other decorations and label the boxes so I’ll be able to find them when the occasion arises. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Time of the Mist. Find the answer in Mountains. It is a story of the paranormal and two worl...

Joe F. Stierheim: December 2013
http://joefstierheim.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 30, 2013. The New Year will soon be upon us and it is time to pay attention to that time honored tradition—New Year’s Resolutions. Or is it? Improvement, picks something he thinks he or she should. Do, then, because he or she doesn’t really want. To, is not successful. The result is not only no improvement made but an additional feeling of guilt because of having failed. Probably that makes the next try at improving oneself harder. Friday, December 20, 2013. But is that peace so elusive?

Joe F. Stierheim: June 2013
http://joefstierheim.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 27, 2013. June was a hectic month. It was a good month and a lot of good things happened, but it was hectic. One of the things I didn’t like was the fact that I didn’t get a chance to keep up with blog posts. This is my first post since the beginning of the month! I didn’t realize it had been that long. Perhaps I should be more disciplined but I know that no matter how hard I tried to be that way, it would last for only a short time. One of the things that has taken a lot of time lately is...

Joe F. Stierheim: May 2013
http://joefstierheim.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 20, 2013. Just what is time? It’s not a constant; it varies. That’s been established by science. Some say it doesn’t exist at all, that there is only the “eternal now.”. But just what is it? Friday, May 17, 2013. Just recently, these two subjects came together for me in an unexpected way. I’ve been reading a book called The Human Potential for Peace. By Douglas P. Fry, an anthropologist. In this book, Fry traces the tendencies for non violence and war in a number of societies and over...In ot...

Joe F. Stierheim: September 2013
http://joefstierheim.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 24, 2013. I bought a new night light, plugged it in and no more tripped breakers. All problems solved, I thought. Again not so—my printer ran out of black ink. Solution? Everything was now operational. Then the speaker on my cell phone quit. No way to fix it. I accepted the inevitable and got a new phone. The first day I had it I lost it. I never before lost a cell phone but I managed to lose this one. That is the most recent of my electric/electronic problems. The Time of the Mist.

Friday, December 20, 2013. But is that peace so elusive? It is possible, but are we willing to live according to the principles of peace? Are we willing to learn new ways of living? Are we willing to learn new definitions of words and new ways of dealing with concepts such as right, wrong, competition, punishment, cooperation. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
