Dying to Self: November 2010
http://marymichelleard.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
While America celebrated Thanksgiving last Thursday with all the yummy foods and time with family, I went and checked out our mall here by myself and had KFC in the food court for my Thanksgiving meal. Ok, 2 things about that sentence that I still can't get over are: 1) the mall (ironically named "Mall Dova"! Is huge. It looks and feels exactly like an American mall. And 2) KFC? Needless to say, I felt right at home. I guess all those years roller skating at Skate Station USA paid off! One thing that I a...

Arkansas to Africa: More than a year
http://arkansastoafrica.blogspot.com/2011/03/more-than-year.html
Friday, March 25, 2011. More than a year. It's really easy to get out of the habit of blogging. I guess once the "honeymoon" phase of living overseas wears off, the new things, the odd things, the funny things, the unbelievable things, they all begin to go unnoticed because they all become the norm. Maybe during this break from facebook I'll find time to blog. Time will tell. Welcome back to the blog world! Is it really coming up on 3 years? Thats just hard to believe. March 26, 2011 at 3:44 AM.

Dying to Self: July 2011

I Thought I Knew. Once upon a time, I was a worship leader in my church. Actually, it wasn't really that long ago but it feels like it was. Side note: I REALLY miss those days. Today, I found an old email that I wrote to the other people on the worship team and it was something that I really needed to read today. Maybe that is why it was saved in my email! I wonder why I feel like I have to keep "re-learning" lessons. From March 30, 2010:. How is your relationship with Christ? There is no possible way th...

Dying to Self: April 2010

The Supremecy of Christ in Suffering. I follow a decent amount of blogs. I don't know most of the authors of the blogs that I read. But, God has used so many of these 'strangers' to speak truth and conviction into my life. Most of these people will never know how their vulnerability has personally affected me. Such is the case with Anne Jackson. A quick update about fund raising: I found out yesterday that my complete budget is half way raised! I was so blown away when I received the figures. Wow! It's M...

Arkansas to Africa: August 2009
http://arkansastoafrica.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 21, 2009. Be near, oh God. To trust in grace through faith. But i'm asking to taste. For dark is light to You. Depths are height to You. But Lord, I need to hear from You. Be near, oh God. Be near, oh God of us. Your nearness is to us our good. Be near, oh God. Be near, oh God of us. Your nearness is to us our good, our good. Your fullness is mine. But, o, to taste. To know much more than a page. To feel Your embrace. For dark is light to You. The depths are height to You. Be near, oh God.

Thursday, April 14, 2011. Revival in Little Rock. When I was at church Sunday here in Nairobi a friend who is also from Little Rock, with a big smile on her face asked me "have you heard what's going on at Summit? They're having a revival! When you have a few minutes, maybe 20 or 30, I invite you to check out these "Reports of God's Mercies". Detailing the true revival taking place in Little Rock. What a blessing and encouragement, beautiful conviction and heart-wrenching joy. Friday, April 8, 2011.
