Programming and some other things. Italian, moved to the US some years ago. Worked in software development since high school - that was a long time ago. The Old New Thing. December 7, 2013 at 2:51 PM. Mdash; Michele Mottini. I just finished Coursera’s Exploring Quantum Physics. It was pretty good: the Coursera Web sites works well, both lectures and homework exercises were good and the discussion forums were helpful. Through a post in one of the Coursera’s forum I discovered the ‘Theoretical minimum’.

Cosmic Horizons: March 2015
http://cosmic-horizons.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
My personal take on what's going on within our Event Horizon. Mostly astronomical, often cosmological, usually quite grumpy. Sunday, 29 March 2015. Musings on academic careers - Part 1. Now, there may be some lessons below for how to become a permanent academic, but there is no magic formula. But realising some of these lessons on what is at play may help. Some of you may have heard me harp on about some of these issues before, but hopefully there is some new stuff as well. OK. Let's begin. When they are...

The best hand-picked education content for students, parents, and teachers. Jun 22, 2013. The Stupidity of the “Math Wars”. Unless you’re a professor of education, you may not have noticed that for the last several decades a war has been raging between math education reformers and those from the traditional camp. Their disagreement boils down to one simple question: should students learn traditional computational algorithms (like the division algorithm for two numbers)? Alice Crary and W. Stephen Wil...

My personal take on what's going on within our Event Horizon. Mostly astronomical, often cosmological, usually quite grumpy. Saturday, 21 March 2015. Moving Charges and Magnetic Fields. Still struggling with grant writing season, so another post which has resulted in my random musings about the Universe (which actually happens quite a lot). Perspectives on Life, the Universe, and Everything from a Physicist, Massage Instructor, Father, Dancer, Runner, …. On 27 April 2014 @ 20:29. On a spiritual level one is entitled to whatever beliefs one wishes. It is not credible, however, to extend the practice of such beliefs into the domains of state-regulated health professions. Everything is Not Energy.
