Why? | The Unsavoury Pipe
https://theunsavourypipe.wordpress.com/what-and-why
As an archaeology graduate student I find myself doing a lot of thinking. Mostly about the origin of our species and the evolution of human behaviour over the past few million years – you know, the simple questions. The incentive for the blog comes from my belief that research should be made available to as many people as possible –. If people don’t hear about it, why spend the money to do it? Happy reading and don’t be shy to leave comments. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Day 5R...

March 16, 2009. Over the past few years there has been one question I have despised answering:. So, you’re an anthropologist? My cut and paste answer has become:. I’m an archaeologist but I study out of an Anthropology department. I decided to add my two cents on the issue. Lars has started a series of posts that he calls Archaeodigms. He is trying to instigate a discussion about where we archaeologists currently stand theoretically. This series, in combination with. Is where the What is anthropology?
Day 4…Microscope Eyes | The Unsavoury Pipe

Day 4…Microscope Eyes. Today was much like the past few days. My approach to learning Soil Micromorphology has been working so I stuck with it. I did make one minor modification though. Rather than pair slides with their relevant publication and go over the identified characteristics, I pulled out one of the best guides to Archaeological Soil Micromorphology,. Soil and Micromorphology in Archaeology. Back tomorrow with Day 5 update, the final day of the training week. Feed You can leave a response. You a...

And it Begins….Ever so Slowly. Hello to everyone from sunny old England. I arrived in London this past Saturday, the overnight flight from Ottawa of course, only to be treated to a quirky British tradition surrounding Guy Fawkes day. The course started with an introductory seminar, followed by 3 hours looking at reference thin sections under the microscope. Lunch break was great! I’ll be back tomorrow night with some updates on the course and my progress. Feed You can leave a response. From your own site.

GIS and Archaeology Take 2. January 25, 2009, 8:38 pm. I’d just like to post a link that Steve Chrisomalis (author of the Glossographia blog) showed me, as it exemplifies what I was trying to say at the end of my last post rather nicely. The Blogaeological Record: Megalith Videos (Part 2 - Sabbath Time)
http://blogaeologicalrecord.blogspot.com/2009/03/megalith-videos-part-2-sabbath-time.html
Yet another blog about Archaeology, Science, and the like. Sunday, March 15, 2009. Megalith Videos (Part 2 - Sabbath Time). Ok so here are the next two Megalith Videos from our show on March 7th, and yes, they are both Black Sabbath Covers. The first one is Paranoid, a last minute addition to the set, but definitely a good decision. Most of the band was sick and you can hear the 'rasp' of the cold in our keyboardist's voice as she's singing this one, which actually makes the song sound great! Institute o...

Day 5………. November 13, 2009. Today was the 5th and last day of the Training Week of the Archaeological Soil Micromorphology course I have been taking. It has been extremely tiresome and a bit stress inducing at times but extremely worthwhile. As an aside, I realized that some of you may have no idea what a micromorphology thin section looks like. There is an incredible range of variation but one example can be found on the wesbite for the joint Turkish/American project at Üçagizli Cave, Turkey. Today was...

This is the official blog of the Halo fansite, UNSCDF. Here you will find all of the Staff's daily ramblings, complaints, praises and more. Enjoy! Wednesday, December 26, 2007. With the recent playlist update, Bungie introduced (or rather, re-introduced, from Halo 2) the new Team Hardcore playlist. Since its initial outing, Bungie's updated the playlist again, adding in Team Oddball to the mix. Which is, on Guardian at least, insanely fun. Makes Guardian feel just a little more like Lockout. And that's w...
