Babblings from the journey

Sunday, May 5, 2013. I don't want to conveniently avoid the knowledge that millions of the unborn are aborted every year, that a huge portion of the people on earth do not have access to clean water, that millions of young people cannot go to school, that vulnerable people in desperate situations are exploited.the list could go on and on. I read Sarah Bessey's posts from the blogger trip back in October. And cried with her all over again. Can I just say this, too? I need to say it:. Links to this post.

Babblings from the journey: in the image of God, He created them...

http://thisjoy.blogspot.com/2013/03/in-image-of-god-he-created-them.html

Saturday, March 23, 2013. In the image of God, He created them. Now, I am not presuming to know how that happened. I only want to point out some of the beauty in that statement. Sometimes, when I hear love songs, it makes me pine away for a love of my own. Then, yesterday, working in the lab (because God so often meets me there), it struck me. Men whose lyrics cause me to swoon and blush were made in the very image of God. He is a creator God. He is an artist. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). SheLoves...

Babblings from the journey: this weekend. floored.

http://thisjoy.blogspot.com/2013/02/this-weekend-floored.html

Monday, February 25, 2013. This weekend. floored. If I tried to make this post into a narrative, there would be too many words. Also, I don't feel I could adequately express how amazing this weekend was for marathon training and fundraising for 26 Miles for 26 girls. It started Friday, when CBS aired our story, along with brief moments from my interview. The producer of the segment, Kara, did a phenomenal. Job at telling this story. I was blown away. Here's a link to the video of the segment. Thomas : Ba...

Babblings from the journey: [non-exhaustive] list of favorites from Haiti

http://thisjoy.blogspot.com/2013/04/non-exhaustive-list-of-favorites-from.html

Saturday, April 27, 2013. Non-exhaustive] list of favorites from Haiti. When you ask for blessing, you better get ready for responsibility." - Jean St Cyr. Tent City pastor. @ helponenow. 8212; Lamar Stockton (@lamarstockton) April 24, 2013. This might be one of my most and least favorite take-away's from the week long trip. The trip was a huge blessing, and yet I find myself stuttering to say now what is my responsibility after all I've seen and heard. Asked me last night, "How has the trip changed you?

Babblings from the journey: marathon musings

http://thisjoy.blogspot.com/2013/03/marathon-musings.html

Saturday, March 30, 2013. I've never been so disciplined about anything in my whole life as marathon training. In the month of February, I logged over 125 miles . and way more than I'm willing to admit were done on the treadmill. I owe a humble thanks to the treadmill, which I will do now. Ok That's out of the way. Y'all, the marathon was actually.FUN! The fun started thursday night and went all the way through monday. My friends Angela, Jill, Zoe, and Kyle were at other places on the course cheering me ...

Barista…Maturity…Progress… | Barista Seeking Understanding

https://thomasbusby.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/barista-maturity-progress

A personal collission of coffee, christ, and culture. Who is Thomas Busby? Barista…Maturity…Progress…. There is this feeling that we get at times that hits us hard. Its a feeling of development, maturation, and continuance. Perhaps continuance is a little off. Continuance signifies an “ongoingness” but what I want to convey is growth; suppose the best term to use is progress. Its an industry full of humble people who love excellence. That is such a powerful force. I think a passionate driving tow...Maybe...

Olivers All Over: July 2012

http://callmemelo.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 30, 2012. I wanted to go to the Grand Canyon. We just returned home from a trip to Phoenix, Arizona. It was a family reunion of sorts for Steven’s family. I’d met about half of the 17 people that were going to be there. Going into this trip the only planned event as far as I knew was a Diamondbacks game. I was worried that this trip was going to turn out to be kinda boring. Here are several sideways pictures for you:. My father in law had on this cute little number. Ten-year-old Tori ready t...

http://callmemelo.blogspot.com/2013/01/new-years-resolutions.html

Thursday, January 3, 2013. I always feel overwhelmed by New Year’s resolutions. I don’t need to quit smoking or lose 50 lbs. I want to make a resolution but I don’t want to make a goal I’m going to forget about by February 1st. A year-long commitment is a long time! But, I’ve given it some thought and I’m ready to commit:. 1 Blog twice per month (You’re welcome.). Commence sneeze attack in 3, 2, 1…). 3 Going to the gym. 4 Dealing with stress. Olivers All Over: Confession: I'm a Sleepwalker

http://callmemelo.blogspot.com/2013/01/confession-im-sleepwalker.html

Saturday, January 5, 2013. Confession: I'm a Sleepwalker. It’s time for a confession. I unconsciously do things in my sleep. Its kinda like sleepwalking but usually I don’t get too far from the side of my bed. Sometimes I have a vague memory of what I do. It’s exceptionally rare for adults to sleepwalk, especially if they weren’t sleepwalkers as kids, so I like to think of myself as a medical marvel of sorts. 8221; and “That must be really difficult.”. I go through this whole routine about once per week.

Olivers All Over: April 2012

http://callmemelo.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 26, 2012. This past Sunday will go down in history as one of my worst days in fulfilling my role as a wife. Feel free to laugh at me:. My husband has a gluten intolerance so this puts some limits on what we eat. For those of you who don't know, gluten is pretty much the same thing as flour. So anything with flour is a no-no: pasta, bread, biscuits, pancakes, doughnuts, chicken nuggets, fried okra. the list goes on and on. Doesn't that sound great- okra wrapped in fried cake batter? The pl...

Olivers All Over: Top 5 Favorite Foods

http://callmemelo.blogspot.com/2013/01/top-5-favorite-foods.html

Monday, January 21, 2013. Top 5 Favorite Foods. Last fall while hanging out with my brother-in-law he nonchalantly listed off his top five foods. Well this one conversation threw me into a tailspin. I wanted a top five list of my own! Unfortunately this is no easy task for me. I take things like this very seriously. I have to weigh all possible options. I have to think through all of the foods I’ve ever eaten in my lifetime. It’s a big task. I am proud to make my list public. This was a labor of love.
