A first look at our new home - This Little Space of Mine

http://thislittlespaceofmine.co.uk/a-first-look-at-our-new-home

A chat with…. Holidays and day trips. Buying your first home. A first look at our new home. It’s just a couple of pictures of our living room, but it gives you an idea of the vibe we’re going for – plus a Freds the cat fix! First up is my favourite piece in our living room, my armchair. This was my one extravagant purchase and can be found at Made.com. You may remember me talking about it in my home wishlist. Oh and bonus points if you can name the two characters featured on the cushion! Short but sweet,...

http://thislittlespaceofmine.co.uk/50-things-ive-learned-from-buying-a-house

A chat with…. Holidays and day trips. Buying your first home. 50 things I’ve learned from buying a house. Today marks the 50th day since we moved into our first home together, so what better a way to mark the occasion then to share 50 things I’ve learned – an informal, light-hearted list that I’ve been putting together since we moved in. 50 things I’ve learned from buying a house. All those hard-earned savings disappear in a flash. I somehow got away with having polka dot crockery in our kitchen! Having ...

Weekend reads - 17th July 2015 - This Little Space of Mine

http://thislittlespaceofmine.co.uk/weekend-reads-17th-july-2015

A chat with…. Holidays and day trips. Buying your first home. Weekend reads – 17th July 2015. Evening all, how has your week been? It’s been one of those weeks that has just flown by for me; poorly on Monday, in London on Tuesday with work, Guildford Wednesday, yesterday was Stu’s graduation and today I’d wanted to spend the day blogging and practicing photography but ended up doing quite a lot of house chores! Nice to have a moment to blog now, while I listen to one of my favourite Spotify playlists.

The story of the knitted sky blanket - This Little Space of Mine

http://thislittlespaceofmine.co.uk/the-story-of-the-knitted-sky-blanket

A chat with…. Holidays and day trips. Buying your first home. The story of the knitted sky blanket. My sky blanket is finished! I want to shout from the rooftops – Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music style. 14 months of knitting and I have a beautiful blanket that I will treasure for years to come and look at with a smile on my face. First things first, what is a sky blanket? Adapted from Laura at Bugs and Fishes blanket. Each square was made using Moss stitch; a beautiful stitch and while a little time ...

floral and feather: April 2015

http://floralandfeather.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

How to make a bird feeder. A simple tutorial to make a cheep, ahem. Cheap bird feeder in less than 10 minutes, using a few recycled materials. In case you hadn't guessed from the big feather wreath above, I love birds and now that we have our own garden I'd like to encourage a few more to visit. So, recently the boyfriend and I made a couple of bird feeders to hang in our garden and here's the how to:. Empty water bottle (with lid). Scissors and a screw. Inspired by the daffodil. Cheerful and bold, the s...

floral and feather: May 2015

Recently I’ve been…. Some tomato seedlings. I was a bit late putting these in and have just spent the weekend re-planting them into separate pots, so fingers crossed they now have the space to grow. As a completely novice gardener (one who has just killed another house plant) I'm thrilled to have made it this far! This new two tone lamp from Lane. Which I won in Lou from Little Green Shed. What have you been doing? Crochet Toothless from How to train your Dragon. On ravelry, I knew I'd have to make him f...

Crochet mandala A quick win. You know how sometimes you just need a nice quick project? Recently anything I’ve made has taken over a month (in snatched evenings and weekends) and let’s not even mention the top I started sewing a year and a half ago…. So after finishing my Wool and the Gang scarf. I decided it was time for a quick win, which happily coincided with last month’s Mollie Makes. Next time you need a little crafting pick me up try a quick win. PS Don’t forget to enter my GIVEAWAY. But the best ...

Finished project - a knitted teacup. Or perhaps a better question would be, why have I knitted a teacup? Not a clue, it's certainly not my most practical knit, but I think that's okay sometimes. Now that it's finished I'm not too keen on the fact it's neon green. It seemed like a good idea at the time to use up the leftovers, but I think a slightly daintier colour would have worked better. So, milk and sugar? Bracelet holder – a DIY. Happened to coincide with another. The challenge is to re-use leftover ...

floral and feather: August 2015

Inspired by the rose. This month's 'inspired by' is something which has now turned into an unlikely obsession of mine. A couple of weeks ago we brought ourselves a beautiful pale peach climbing rose to grow up the empty trellis on the back of our house, inspired by this trip. To Pashley Manor. And in a move most unlike my normal self I have been diligently watering, training around the trellis and pruning it ever since - I was even out there yesterday morning before work! And here's my beautiful rose.

floral and feather: February 2015

http://floralandfeather.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Today we have a combination of two of my favourite things - knitting and tartan! I've often wondered if it's possible to knit a tartan pattern, but as I've yet to conquer fair isle or intarsia type knitting I figured it would be a while before I was able to try it. That was until I saw a fab tutorial for knitted tartan, using a line of crochet to create the vertical lines. Genius. You can see a full tutorial here. What would you knit with this tartan pattern? Buying a home How NOT to move house. And coul...

floral and feather: Skylight inspiration AKA Project Natural Light

http://floralandfeather.blogspot.com/2015/08/skylight-inspiration-aka-project.html

Skylight inspiration AKA Project Natural Light. The big compromise when we brought our first house last autumn was the bathroom. Apart from being small and outdated, its major flaw is the lack of a window and therefore any. Natural light. The fact that we brought the house anyway is a testament to just how much we loved the rest of it! Obviously, I headed straight to pinterest for some dreamy skylight and décor inspiration…. And when you think of skylights, VELUX*. Which bathroom look would you go for?

This Little Space of Mine - UK Lifestyle Blog - home & being creative

Read, listen, watch. For kids and parents it means no school, maybe a holiday and 6 weeks to entertain the kids. For me it means an easier commute and more kids in town when I pop out to get my lunch. The lessened commute is a big plus! And put into plan some of the ideas I have for my blog. So I’ll be back in September, ready and rearing to go! In the meantime you can still catch me on all the usual channels…. Enjoy the summer break and I hope you’ll be back when I return!
