A Hamilton blog about the places I explore and love all the reasons why I love this city. August 13, 2015. There’s something weird about the way I think about summer in that I always feel like it’s fleeting. Come July 1st I’m already counting the limited amount of days that I’ll have left for swimming, camping, cottaging, bbqs and patio beers. The dairy bar itself boasts over 50 years in operation with the dairy being over 125 years old. The dairy bar seems unchanged since the 60′s. We saddled ...Mint ch...

A Hamilton blog about the places I explore and love all the reasons why I love this city. The road sign project. June 4, 2013. You really need to pay attention to find these cool little installations. For example, this. Sign below by artist Hitoko Okada. I probably walked by this a few times, a little befuddled and confused, before realizing it was an art piece. But once I saw this sign, I started noticing a lot of other intriguing signs by other artists all over the downtown core. Duck, by Hitoko Okada.

A Hamilton blog about the places I explore and love all the reasons why I love this city. April 26, 2012. There have been many Toronto visits the past month. Last weekend I headed into the city to meet with my friend Vern. To check out City of Craft. And to show my support for the Day of Action rally. At Queen’s Park (my first rally ever! I’m looking forward to sticking around Hamilton for the next few weekends with tons of stuff going on like Canada’s largest food truck rally. And Steve’s art. I donR...

A Hamilton blog about the places I explore and love all the reasons why I love this city. March 26, 2013. We did a mini kitchen reno back in December (when I say “we” I really mean Steve). When we did our mega main floor reno. Over a year ago I had the crafty idea to paint over our old stained yellow vinyl floors. It was a bad idea by the way). It was a fast and furious reno -did I mention that Steve did this entire reno in two days? Not to worry we didn’t get rid of the tapes! They’ve just found a...

A Hamilton blog about the places I explore and love all the reasons why I love this city. January 31, 2012. For a little winter exercise as of late Steve and I have taken to walking the rail trail ending up at the top of the escarpment by the James St. south stairs. A while back we noticed some remnant parts of Hamilton’s unique and historic past. Just to the slight east of the escarpment stairs you can see the ruins of what was once an incline mountain train line. There is no finer view anywhere on the ...

sake + cheese: changes + muffins
http://sakeandcheese.blogspot.com/2011/05/changes-muffins.html
Lets start with the "changes" portion. I've decided to move my blogging over. No real reason other than I wanted a place where I could talk about other things than food if I wanted to (though lets face it, it'll mostly still be food.) I also wanted to play a bit with the design template and try to make my blog more reader-friendly. I'll probably still pop in here every once in a while though. We'll see how it goes! 2 C flour (I use half all-purpose, half whole wheat). 4 1/2 tsp baking soda. Davis is a fa...
Tea Swamp Park: Film Friday - Festival!
http://chloelees.blogspot.com/2012/06/film-friday-festival.html
Friday, June 29, 2012. Film Friday - Festival! For as long as I can remember, the Canada Day long weekend meant one thing in Hamilton - It's Your Festival! Gage Park, a mere 10 minute walk from my house, hosts the anywhere-from-3-to-5-day festival that showcases the best in (through the years): tasty foods, rides, skeeball, jewelery with yin yangs, concert photos and bible quizes. In other words, perfection. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Blue Moon Revisited on Etsy. Art by Caitlin Shearer.
Tea Swamp Park: Yes, please
http://chloelees.blogspot.com/2012/07/yes-please.html
Tuesday, July 10, 2012. One thing about my new found frugality (or, at least, efforts to be frugal) is that it's a lot easier than I thought it would be. Especially when it came to shopping. I have been making a conscious effort to only buy things that I absolutely adore and am 100% positive I will wear regularly. I've also started taking a lot more time to make the decision to buy something - I used to be a ridiculous impulse buyer! And really, it still gets the best of me sometimes.). Oh my gosh, YES!

Friday, May 18, 2012. Film Friday - Victoria Day. Photo from about 8 years back, driving the 15 up my camp. Tea Swamp Park: August 2011

Tuesday, August 30, 2011. I feel like it's impossible to properly explain my love for New Orleans. It just is. It began around age 14, when I started reading Poppy Z Brite's novels and just fell for the spooky, gothic charm that he so eloquently infused the city with. Yesterday was the 6th anniversary of Katrina and the levees failure, and though I didn't plan it, also the day I started Zeitoun by Dave Eggers. Want everyone to read it. It, and, what else are they going to do? Two years ago I came in to a...

On December 20 at 11:57 pm Joe and I welcomed our little Maxwell Dae-Won Park into the world. He made his due date by mere minutes with a fast and furious delivery! We couldn't be happier and can't believe how much we love this little dude already. Here's me and my 40-week belly the day before Maxwell was born (I already gave up on wearing makeup and straightening my hair at this point). And Maxwell just after entering the world:. sake + cheese: a day in hamilton
http://sakeandcheese.blogspot.com/2011/03/day-in-hamilton.html
A day in hamilton. Over the weekend Joe and I went on a little day trip to Hamilton. I wanted to check out the newly renovated farmers market. And also visit our friends Seema and Steve. The market was bustling and larger than I thought it would be. I feel like it has a lot of potential and am definitely looking forward to seeing it when it's overflowing with seasonal produce this summer. Another highlight of our trip:. Should have bought some. So many homemade baked goods. Bars it's a weakness. Subscrib...

Director Paolo Sorrentino’s much-anticipated English Language debut, is a comic, charmingly oddball road movie with a sincere, emotional heart, smart dialogue and images of breathtaking, lingering beauty. Starring two time Academy Award winner Sean Penn (as you’ve never seen him before) as Cheyenne, a middle-aged wealthy former goth rock star now bored and jaded in his retirement, living in Dublin off his royalties.
