Thoughts From The Gap: Birthday Boy

http://thoughtsfromthegap.blogspot.com/2006/11/birthday-boy.html

Thoughts From The Gap. Random stuff that falls out of the gap between my ears. Friday, November 17, 2006. Today my boy Jack becomes, an adult. My God, is it really 18 years since he was born! And then he looked straight at my face, eyes focussed as if he was saying 'And who the hell are you? And then he went to sleep quite calmly. It was a very profound experience. So, tonight I shall take him to the pub and buy him his first legal pint, as a father should! Posted by Phil at 7:09 am.

Thoughts From The Gap: First

http://thoughtsfromthegap.blogspot.com/2006/11/first.html

Thoughts From The Gap. Random stuff that falls out of the gap between my ears. Wednesday, November 08, 2006. So, here it starts. I'm always slow to take up anything, but never late etc. The title came from a friend a long time ago and for a while I had a computer file into which I put things that occurred to me or appealed to my mood. Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved". You're only as old as you feel". Life is what happens while you're making other plans' - Film 'Kuffs'. Diplomacy is...

Thoughts From The Gap. Random stuff that falls out of the gap between my ears. Saturday, December 23, 2006. I have just been turned on to this newspaper. And having done the haggis hunt proceeded to the news headlines. Check this. Out - I mean, how unlucky can you get? That cleaner nearly HAD 'dunroamin'! No action taken' - What! Having a loaded gun in your hotel room is OK then! Obviously the police at Bonar Bridge are kept very busy. Posted by Phil at 8:57 am. Wednesday, December 20, 2006. I woke up th...

Thoughts from the Fourth Estate

Thoughts from the Fourth Estate. Tuesday, 14 July 2015. Rhodes' Statue must Stand. Let me start off by stating categorically that I am not a racist in any way and I do not agree with or condone the actions of the apartheid government of South Africa. But I am also someone who has a big big problem with and anyone who thinks we can or should ignore the past. This is why I have a problem with the campaign to remove Cecil Rhodes’ statue from the front of Oriel College Oxford. Saturday, 12 July 2014. 8221; w...

Thoughts from the Frisc

Thoughts from the Frisc. Musings on the Friedman Study Center. Thoughts from the Frisc. Friday, May 20, 2011. The first time I went to the SciLi was the summer between my junior and senior years of high school. I was at Brown for a week and needed to use a computer. Brought in Smartboards, a sign-in sheet and fancy tables on wheels. In the fall of 2007, the third floor was a giant cavernous space, with large sofas scattered around the room. This in no way resembled any library I had ever seen, bu...Out o...

Thoughts from the Front

Thoughts from the Front. September 5, 2014. Andersen. What A Broken Brand Looks Like. What are these ex-partners thinking? The only folks likely to have much lamented the demise of Big 6 accounting firm Andersen were partners and employees and not even all of those. So who’s the best candidate for writing a panegyric? How about the partners at the newly dubbed Andersen Tax in San Francisco? Continue reading →.

July 23, 2015. Max and the MCAT. I would never, ever wish the MCAT/applying to medical school on anyone. Which sounds really dramatic, (and yes I know this is just the prologue to ten million chapters to follow called: Actually Going to Medical School) but this whole things is not for the faint of heart. I will never forget that weekend. The night before we went out to eat at Hought's 24 Flavors, "the best diner in Union County! July 20, 2015. Just kidding (kind of). Thoughts from the Goose. Tuesday, 16 July 2013. A January thought for a hot July. At one level we need this sense of self in order to survive. This body of mine needs to be able to say ‘that’s my food’ ‘I will guard it.’ But there’s a down-side as well. Friday, 4 March 2011. Jesus: Teacher or Saviour, or both?
