Art Journaling, making art of your daily life : March 2015
http://quataalenteken.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. I found some big photographs of faces in a magazine and was intrigued by their size. The 'nearness' made me feel slightly uncomfortable. I tore them up to see what the effect would be if I rearranged the pieces. Would it make a difference? On a base of gesso with watercolour I went to work with the two torn-up girlies. I puzzled with eyes, noses and mouths. Amazing what an extra millimetre upwards or sideways would do to the facial expression! Sunday, March 22, 2015. Then turn you...

Art Journaling, making art of your daily life : September 2014
http://quataalenteken.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Decorating men /Mannen versieren. Draw on people's faces in magazines when you were young? I did And not always to their advantage I'm afraid . On flawless faces I drew pimples, hairy warts, silly glasses and moustaches and I blackened many a teeth. I saw some pictures of girls decorating (and this time really. Decorating) faces of top models and I remembered the fun of changing a face to your liking and fantasy. Now wouldn't it be nice to do that to the picture of a man?

Art Journaling, making art of your daily life : April 2014

Thursday, April 17, 2014.

Art Journaling, making art of your daily life : Levenskunst / The art of living
http://quataalenteken.blogspot.com/2014/07/levenskunst-art-of-living.html
Sunday, July 6, 2014. Levenskunst / The art of living. Why take an empty book on a holiday? Ik ben nooit me...

Thursday, January 2, 2014. Woord Mijn dag was verprutst. Verprutst was mijn dag! Monday, February 3, 2014. Je leven in metaforen / Metaphors of your life.

rene fijten sketches: Maastricht, sketchcrawl
http://renefijten.blogspot.com/2015/08/maastricht-sketchcrawl.html
Wednesday, 5 August 2015. My (new) computer broke, and I lost the last month of data and scanned drawings. As well the digitally coloured versions of Akai Usagi. So I am lagging behind with my blogposts, and trying to find out what I am missing anyway. Here are two quick sketches made during the last sketchcrawl, some 2 weeks ago; it was the only bad weather day so far this summer. Bad luck. They each took me about 5 minutes to make. rene fijten sketches: Harlingen, Friesland
http://renefijten.blogspot.com/2015/06/harlingen-friesland.html
Thursday, 18 June 2015. Before I continue with the Strasbourg series, I will show you the drawings I made yesterday. I had a business trip up north, to Harlingen, to visit a salt production plant. Harlingen is a very old Dutch town located directly on the sea. It is as Dutch as you can get: canals, gabled houses, ship locks, sailing-boats, fishtrailers and so on. Here are two sketches: above the old sail ship "de Marieje", dating from 1898. It just returned from a trip and was mooring. Yep it is Michael.
