Beyond the City Lights: A Sri Lankan Train Ride
http://beyondthecitylights.blogspot.com/2011/04/sri-lankan-train-ride.html
Beyond the City Lights. Apr 24, 2011. A Sri Lankan Train Ride. A couple of friends and I made a trip to the Pearl Island of Sri Lanka last week. We stayed in Unawatuna, a beach in Galle about 116 kms from Colombo. On the way to Unawatuna, we drove down to the South Coast. However, on the way back, we decided to take the train. Thats quite a beach within reach :). April 25, 2011 at 2:46 AM. And yet it isnt. At least not from a moving train :). April 25, 2011 at 9:14 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Torstein's World: November 2008
http://torsteinsworld.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
27 November, 2008. Some of Australia's Finest. During the last couple of months of our time in Australia, Katrine and I experienced some of the beautiful landscapes and cities of Australia. We went to Sydney for a long weekend, seeing legendaric Stevie Wonder in concert, surfing and getting sunburned on iconic Bondi Beach, taking the ferry out to the beautiful Manly, eating grøt (traditional Norwegian rice porridge) at Sj. Ømannskirken (the Norwegian church in Sydney), enjoying a jazz symphony (! Bondi B...

27 July, 2009. Everything Good Comes to an End. For more pictures check out this. It's now about five months (! The last post ended with us leaving Cambodia to put our feet on Thai soil again. After a short ferry trip we settled down on Koh Chang, a beautiful island in the eastern gulf. We spent four days relaxing on the beach, eating good food and, eh. not much else I guess. Katrine is enjoying the final night of dining on the beach -. Next awaited a big, polluted metropolis. While the European sky gave...

Beyond the City Lights: Fireworks at the Queen’s Necklace
http://beyondthecitylights.blogspot.com/2010/11/fireworks-at-queens-necklace.html
Beyond the City Lights. Nov 6, 2010. Fireworks at the Queen’s Necklace. Even Obama’s visit can’t stop a Bombayite from enjoying Diwali and Marine Drive knows this like no other place in South Bombay. Security maybe tight in SOBO and the police might be out in hundreds. But Diwali is Diwali at the Queen’s Necklace, and no Obama is going to stop people from enjoying themselves. I didn’t know about Diwali at Marine Drive, until yesterday when Alex. I missed it this year. Happy Diwali! Pictures from all over.

Beyond the City Lights: From Pillar to Post—Part 1
http://beyondthecitylights.blogspot.com/2013/06/from-pillar-to-postpart-1_28.html
Beyond the City Lights. Jun 28, 2013. From Pillar to Post—Part 1. The University of Mumbai (UOM) is one of the oldest universities in India. And like a well-established institution of the 1800s, it functions pretty much in that age-old fashion. Let me take you through one of my experiences at the 100-acre spread in Kalina. Our first trip to the Kalina campus was in August. Well, August 9, 2009 to be precise—I have the receipt to prove it. This is when we got the preliminary work done. The certificates we...

Beyond the City Lights: Crack crackety crack!
http://beyondthecitylights.blogspot.com/2010/11/crack-crackety-crack.html
Beyond the City Lights. Nov 4, 2010. I’m awake and groggy. The crackers have started, the sun is streaming through my flimsy curtains. It’s Friday and it’s a holiday! One of the few joys of working in India, you get more holidays here than in any other country. IPod on LOUD, wind blowing, traffic noise drowned out, it’s actually a pleasant walk. For me, the best part of the season is the city’s streets. The lights really do make me happier, there is something beautiful about them. Even the ...The Undergr...
