Elevation Madness, Part 4 | The Parti-Colored Fleur

What I’m Reading. What I’m Cooking. Elevation Madness, Part 4. June 17, 2015. Things are moving along! Now the difficult part – cutting the fabric for the dress. I bought the piece as a remnant about a year ago, so there’s no going back for more. But, with help from the Hubs, we altered the body pattern to fit the angle of the neck facing and I worked up my courage and got the two main body pieces cut out. And so it is! Now, I just have to stitch down the outer edge of the facing to complete this part of...

On the Road To Somewhere: April 2013
http://plantecologist2.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
On the Road To Somewhere. Thursday, April 18, 2013. What's up with this week? Thankfully, I have a fun weekend planned ahead - a day of friends, archery, throwing sheep (? Laughter, sunshine (need to remember the sunscreen), bling, girlie drinks, and general fun. I know that the sun will come out and the weather will someday be warm again. And, while I know that I am truly blessed, I am so ready for this week to be over. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Kansas City Metropolitan Area.

Back to the Real World | The Parti-Colored Fleur

What I’m Reading. What I’m Cooking. Back to the Real World. August 11, 2015. I know there are a lot of people who consider Pennsic to be “home” – many even say “welcome home” to others when they arrive – but I’m not one of them. Pennsic is a great vacation and I enjoy it every year, but home is where my bed and my TV and my kitties are. I also took a beginning fingerloop braiding class and made a new braid favor for the Hubs to wear on his belt (the old one had been snapped during fighting at some point)...

On the Road To Somewhere: November 2012
http://plantecologist2.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
On the Road To Somewhere. Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Friday morning, I was driving out to have breakfast with my Dad and Step-mom and the check engine light came on, though it wasn't flashing. Well GREAT! I still think it is probably bad gas, but I would feel like such a dum-dum if I didn't get it look at and then it broke down on the way home. So back to the dealership. Now at this point, I know some of you are going to be wonder why the Dealership? Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Needle-sharp Skills pt. I. The Melancholy Beauty of the Past →. April 8, 2013. Here in New York City, spring has been slow to appear. Bryant Park finally has pansies and daffodils, but it’s still been cold and blustery most of the month. We thought some embroidered spring flowers would help coax the real ones from their warm ground. Engravings of flowers and bugs were published in pattern books called “Miscellanies”, which included images for lace and embroidery, painting, decorative plaster,...Here is a...

Bury Me With My Needles - Embarking on plans of world domination through crafted objects...

Bury Me With My Needles. Embarking on plans of world domination through crafted objects. There have been a few weddings this year, but more and more there are also babies being welcomed into the world. Making something for a new baby, much like making something for a wedding couple, or a friend, gives me time to think about the new arrival and the joy the new family will experience. In trying to match everything up, I obtained from my friend the only known picture of one of the stockings in the wild:.

Bury Me With My Needles. Embarking on plans of world domination through crafted objects. The last blanket for a bit! Though I'm already scouting patterns for an August wedding.). This blanket is for a lovely couple, Dan and Jess, who live in the Boston area. I knew it needed to be warm and classic and casual and big because this was another "tall groom" situation. So I said phooey! I worked an applied border, mostly because I really wanted to have a cable go all the way around, and i didn't want to knit ...

Bury Me With My Needles. Embarking on plans of world domination through crafted objects. Sometimes I find I have to search for inspiration for a project, and sometimes inspiration walks by at the fair. This summer (almost a year ago! I chased this woman to take this picture because I knew I was seeing something important! There is something about the color combination and progression that I find unexpected and irresistible. I didn't know what I was going to do with it at the time, I just knew I neede...

Bury Me With My Needles. Embarking on plans of world domination through crafted objects. Yarn Dying in Alabama. This is going to be a photo heavy one! In October, we dyed yarn! She is also super crafty, so I knew she would enjoy dying the yarn for her own socks. We ordered dyes and sock blanks from Knitpicks. All per instructions, after we dyed the yarn, we wrapped it up in plastic wrap,. Here is what a sock blank looks like in the process of knitting. They are the Kalajoki. Pattern (the Kalajoki is a ri...
