Works in progress (302). Wednesday, 3 December 2008. D and AD conclusion. This has been another really interesting brief due to the fact that it is a live one. It has made shooting for it slightly more exciting in the respect that I can enter my images into the competition, so I've had to do well. Works in progress (302). Sunday, 30 November 2008. Developing from my ideas, I've managed to shoot what my intentions were, although along the way there were a few mishaps and mistakes, so I thought it necessary to show these. There is nothing wrong in particular with this image, just that I tried the shot with the model having gloves on, and when I looked at them all together this one stood out, so I'm not using it. Works in progress (302). Wednesday, 29 October 2008. I came across the work of Edward Hopper by complete chance while looking through another artsits blog. Hopper was an American painter in the 19th and 20th centuries, working mainly with watercolours. There is a clear resemblance to the work of Vermeer, especially in the sense of lighting as we see similar features used both of their works. The next week weeks basically involved gathering as many shots as I could when the light and weather conditions were right. I quite like the image below, was wandering along the river looking for potential shots, when i noticed a set of steps cut into the mud leading to the bank, followed it down a found a bench! I think these are some of my strongest images and I now have a much better understanding of what lighting is suitable while trying to do this kind of landscape work. Water seems to be a recurring theme through alot of this project, I seem to find these images more appealing and I think if people are attracted to it visually the idea behind the project will have more impact.
