Friday, April 29. Cape Tribulation (Apr 18-21). We stayed for 3 days and nights at the Cape Trib Beach House, which is both a small resort and hostel in one. The cabins we stayed in were dorm-style, but they also offer family cabins and double rooms. All of the cabins are right in the rainforest, with beautiful ferns, fan palms, and other giant trees and plants unique to the Australian rainforest. Sunday, February 27. The best parts of the ride: being able to dangle my feet out of the train while sitting on the window ledge like all the kids, and the beautiful scenery. Worst parts: bits of soot and coal in the eyes after blowing back from the steam engine, and watching others who were wearing white. Not a good idea. Monday, November 29. A tour of Sydney. Banks, flower shops, take away restaurants (sorry, take-out), newsagents, etc. And these shops are all independently owned. The only things that are franchises here are the grocery stores and McDonalds. It's really neat because it means you're always trying something new!
