The Tr-Ac-Net Agenda

Setting the stage so that we know how relief and development resources are used. Monday, December 24, 2007. One of the sad realities is that good people are in the majority . but have rather little of the decision making power that drives society. This is not new. It probably has been this way for ever. But some of these good people over the years have worked very hard, and at considerable risk, to make the world a better place, with more justice, equity and fairness. Good people are still doing this.

The Tr-Ac-Net Agenda: The new aid giants (3)

http://tracnetagenda.blogspot.com/2007/12/new-aid-giants-3.html

Setting the stage so that we know how relief and development resources are used. Wednesday, December 5, 2007. The new aid giants (3). On Nov 19, 2007 George Kent responded to my message. Big money has the potential of being useful, but success is not likely if the resources are not accompanied by appropriate planning efforts. It is very difficult to find any serious planning at the global level for dealing with these big issues. Who will do the planning? To whom will the planners be accountable? I guess ...

Setting the stage so that we know how relief and development resources are used. Thursday, December 6, 2007. The new aid giants (7). I thought Molly Tumusiime's message deserved a careful answer. This is my effort to answer the various points that she raised. MT indicates Molly Tumusiime's words . PB is my response. PB response: OK . no disagreement up to this point. PB response: There are two important issues here. 2 what exactly is Africa's need for aid? PB more: I did some academic economics in the Ke...

The Tr-Ac-Net Agenda: Transparency

http://tracnetagenda.blogspot.com/2007/12/transparency_20.html

Setting the stage so that we know how relief and development resources are used. Thursday, December 20, 2007. Transparency is a part of the Tr-Ac-Net agenda. Over the past two decades there has been a lot of dialog about transparency . but the practice of transparency has been in decline. In reality, there are many experts who are well prepared to discuss transparency, but few who are able to implement transparency. Laws that are meant to help the public get access to information in government are easy t...

The Tr-Ac-Net Agenda: Accounting

http://tracnetagenda.blogspot.com/2007/12/accounting.html

Setting the stage so that we know how relief and development resources are used. Thursday, December 20, 2007. A big part of the Tr-Ac-Net agenda is to get accounting sorted out so that it does what it needs to do. Accounting is not meant to be a system that enables the corporate world, and indeed any organization, including government, to hide behind a set of numbers that are legally right but make no sense and certainly do not portray a "true and fair" view of the financial situation of the organization.

I was wondering how to get this new blog started and was helped by stumbling into Dr David More in Australia. His profile:. Dr David More MB, PhD, FACHI. I am vitally interested in making a difference to the quality and safety of Health Care in Australia through the use of information technology. There is no choice . it has to be made to work! Health science is amazing . but the economics are terrible. Making changes that are win-win-win is a challenge, but possible. Thursday, March 6, 2008. Incredible science . terrible economics. The good news is that because the underlying science has progressed so well over the past several decades, and there is a huge pool of incredible talent in the health sector . a solution to the economic crisis can be fashioned so that there is an almost universal win-win-win. Tr-Ac-Net on Education: How important is education? How to make it the best it can be?

http://tracnetoneducation.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-important-is-education-how-to-make.html

Education is the foundation for the future. Friday, February 29, 2008. How important is education? How to make it the best it can be? Most people seem to understand that education is important . but how to make it the best it can be is a much more difficult challenge. It was also widely recognised that the lack of education was a constraint on development in much of the world some fifty years ago . and continues to be a constraint for most of the world's impoverished. The educational techniques that are ...

Health science is amazing . but the economics are terrible. Making changes that are win-win-win is a challenge, but possible. Friday, March 28, 2008. Why are health costs out of control? Is it the lack of information? There are many reasons that health costs are out of control. I am reminded of an old saying that I grew up with in the UK: "Ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise". Certainly the public is kept in almost total ignorance about cost . and this needs to change. There is absolutely no good r...

An IMM (integrated malaria management) approach with Tr-Ac-Net performance metrics is a. Viable strategy for success in reducing the socio-economic burden of malaria in Africa. Thursday, February 7, 2008. Does WHO-RBM have the right planning model? What I know of the WHO-RBM planning model suggests that they do not have the right planning model. The value of investments may be based on reality or on a rigged unreality. For most of the past 40 years a rigged unreality has made America look as if it was prospering, when in reality, all that was going on was that wealth once owned by one set of people was being moved to another set of people.
