In some far off places these rest houses are the only buildings for miles around. Although they are primarily used by officers of NWFP Forest Department on field duty, tourist can also stay their on payment, subject to availability. These rest houses can be booked through the NWFP Forest Department.

My Name is Bakhtiar Ahmed and I live in Peshawar, NWFP, Pakistan. Traveling and photography are my passions and the combination of the two leads to what you see on this website. Thursday, August 13, 2015. Drive from Srinagar to Leh on NH-1D. I am not a fan of road-trips. I prefer sleeping through road journeys, especially in hilly regions because I am terribly road sick. Given my history, Ladakh seems like an unlikely choice of destination.
