Travels with a Backpack

Travels with a Backpack. Stories of a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. Thursday, July 19, 2012. It has been entirely too long since I updated this blog. I constantly find myself taking pictures or writing posts in my head, but haven't managed to actually post anything about summer yet! I have plenty of garden updates since it is growing almost over my head, but I'll wait until we really have veggies for that post. One my birthday weekend we made the trek to Philly to check out a game (tickets from Stubhub.

Travels with a Backpack. Stories of a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. Monday, April 23, 2012. It's finals time again which means I have all the more reason to procrastinate, so here is my first blog post in a really long time. Ooops. I've also been super busy since I moved! I would always poke fun (ok, it was complaining) at Luxembourg and those who spend time in the dreary country because it seriously always rains (see: previous post. About to move in! Unloading the PACKED uhaul. My Peace Corps Blog:.

Time flies when you are. busy with school work! Ş, the ferry dock where our trip would begin at midnight. The IDO ferry terminal where we arrived! Our view of the Bosphorus. Travels with a Backpack: January 2012

http://travelswithabackpack.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Travels with a Backpack. Stories of a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Even though we were only in Vienna for less than four days, it seems like we fit in a weeks' worth of exploring and sightseeing. This is definitely thanks to our wonderful tour guides, Traude and Gerhart, who are distant relatives of mine. They were more than happy to spend three whole days with us to show us their beautiful city and we were so grateful for their assistance and hospitality. Hotel/hostel was t...

Travels with a Backpack: Is That a Monkey?

http://travelswithabackpack.blogspot.com/2011/08/is-that-monkey.html

Travels with a Backpack. Stories of a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. Thursday, August 4, 2011. Is That a Monkey? Recently I've been having one of those "you know you're a returned Peace Corps volunteer when" moments. The scenery appears to be "normal" as defined by western standards and I seem to be blending into the crowd when all of the sudden I say something like, "Is that a monkey? Normal trees in Germany where I thought I saw a monkey. The forest in Dangila, Ethiopia, filled with monkeys. View my c...

twenty.five.: looking back

http://twentyfive-sara.blogspot.com/2012/04/looking-back.html

Wednesday, April 25, 2012. My oh my what a year it has been. last night I started thinking of everything in a quantifiable sense and it was honestly amazing to me where 25 has taken me. It still scares me that I'm turning 26 tomorrow- y'all, I know that's old! But I am excited to see what this next year has in store for me. It is definitely starting off well and I'm enjoying using my blog as an opportunity to look back. My race form for Saturday already says Age: 26. Here is my year, by the numbers:.

twenty.five.: happy april y'all!

http://twentyfive-sara.blogspot.com/2012/04/happy-april-yall.html

Monday, April 2, 2012. It's the best month of the year- birthday month! April is jam packed this year and I hope I can keep my blogging interesting for the next 25 days for a strong finish. This was quite the weekend to bring April in with, a relaxing weekend in the sun! So here is my unofficial bucket list of races- no pressure to finish them in the next year but maybe before 30. 1 Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. I really need to do this while I still have friends living in DC to run with/cheer me on! 4 Disney...

twenty.five.: change of race plans

http://twentyfive-sara.blogspot.com/2012/04/change-of-race-plans.html

Thursday, April 12, 2012. Change of race plans. I was pretty excited for my 15k this weekend, mostly because its a unique race distance and then partially because it was free. but then I got sick. Nothing earth shattering, just a little chest cold, but certainly a pain for running. My goal of working out every day of April went out the door yesterday when I didn't have the energy to even stay awake at work! Hopefully I can still wrap up 25 on a high note and kick this cold! twenty.five.: SARW: Day 3, Midtown

http://twentyfive-sara.blogspot.com/2012/04/sarw-day-3-midtown.html

Wednesday, April 18, 2012. SARW: Day 3, Midtown. During high school Midtown seemed like a far away place that was exciting to venture to for dinner. Now I drive through there on a regular basis but I don't stop enough for their delicious food! One of my favorite things about midtown is Foodtruck Thursdays- I've met Cam for lunch before and it was a great city experience (I took MARTA- so. This is one of my favorite place to have drinks in Midtown. Asian fusion at Noodle. Post-park at the Nook. I wish I c...

Thursday, April 5, 2012. As you can tell from my last post I've been in Mobile, Alabama for a while now and while we are here for work we try to explore the town. and boy did we explore this week. To get a little local feel we all do our share of research and we have come across some delicious finds! I don't know if this will make you want to take a trip to Mobile but all of these adventures have certainly made my last month a fun one. Trip to the Battleship. Big Ed's Tiny Diny. Famous coconut creme pie.

http://twentyfive-sara.blogspot.com/2012/04/saras-atlanta-restaurant-week.html

Monday, April 16, 2012. Sara's Atlanta Restaurant Week. Hmm where to start restaurant week. There is the idea of starting south and going north, or starting with the unusual and going more mainstream and I just don't know what to do! Drink: Margarita from Nuevo Laredo. Appetizer: charcuterie plate from Iberian Pig. Soup course: Crab soup from Murphy's. Salad: Lobster Cobb from Joel's. Dinner: slice of lasagna pie at Antico. Dessert: B&B Cube from Nava. Tapas at Iberian Pig. Dinner at H.Harper station.

http://twentyfive-sara.blogspot.com/2012/04/fit-at-work.html

Wednesday, April 11, 2012. I don't know how I haven't told y'all about this yet. we ordered an amazing new seating aparatus (? For work. You've probably heard the hype- sitting on an exercise ball is supposed to be a great way to engage your core at work and stay fit. Well it's a little hard to roll an exercise ball into your client unnoticed so we found the next best alternative: the fitball seating disc. The day our fitball arrived! You can sit on it or workout with it. 1 I sit up straighter. I believe...

http://twentyfive-sara.blogspot.com/2012/04/sarw-day-4-moving-north.html

Thursday, April 19, 2012. SARW: Day 4, Moving North. My, my, my, I didn't realize quite how many restaurants there were in the Atlanta area that I love. It seems that I may eat out too much! I'll just chalk it up to 20 or so years in Atlanta and move on from that insinuation. The neighborhoods start to get a little jumbled over the next two days but we'll just lump these into the category of the rest of Atlanta. Pizza and BYOB at Antico Pizza. Strawberry and cream donut at Sublime. Places I'd like to try...

Friday, April 6, 2012. Holiday weekend: Passover Easter. Happy Good Friday- especially to those of you not at work. I'm surprised by how many of my friends are off work today, this is not a holiday at my company so I am going to sit through a long day of meetings before the weekend! This weekend marks the beginning of Passover as well as Easter weekend- so there are holidays for everyone to enjoy. Passover Traditions: Seder dinner on the first and second night of Passover, Matzah and finding the afikomen.

Travels With A Blue Vase

New Release, Oct 2014. By Mary Ann Miller. As an artist and art educator, I began many years ago to search for the places some of the great artists had lived and worked. From Michelangelo in Florence to Van Gogh and Picasso in the south of France I went, trying to paint where they had painted. I found the best-known paintings of these artists in Paris as well as in tiny museums in other places. Mary Blocksma, in her book, Lake Lover’s Year. My title, Travels with a Blue Vase.

Travels With A Burro...

Travels With A Burro. Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Taktsang Monastery is the holiest, most well-known and most widely photographed landmark in Bhutan. A visit to the infamous monastery is included in every tourist itinerary and it lives up to the hype.                                .
